3、wer 1. Another type of natural disaster that I know about is tsunamis. A tsunami is a series of huge waves, often caused by an earthquake or volcanic eruption. Tsunamis often damage buildings severely and they can be deadly to humans. The 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami killed more than 200,000 people. 2.
4、 Afghanistan Blizzard in 2008, the second worst blizzard in modern history with regard to casualties, had an estimated death toll of more than 900 due to temperatures that fell below 30 with up to 180 centimetres of snow in the mountainous regions. Lets look at some examples. 29 An earthquake is a sudden shaking of the earths surface, caused by the movement of plates underground. Earthquakes are most commo

When a terrible earthquake hit San Francisco in 1906, about 3,000 people died and over 80 per cent of the city was destroyed. A volcani
9、c eruption occurs when hot gases, volcanic ash and even rocks escape through a large opening at the top of a volcano. The gases and ash can cause acid rain and even storms. The hot liquid rock moving down the volcano burns everything and anything in its way. The eruption of Mount St Helens in 1980 w
10、as the worst volcanic disaster in the history of the United States. It killed 57 people and about 7,000 large animals. A landslide happens when a large amount of earth and rock falls down a hill or mountain. Landslides are often caused by heavy rainfall, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions or other natu
11、ral disasters. Sometimes they are also caused by human activities such as cutting down forests. Serious landslides can cause whole mountainsides to roll away. Villages or towns located in the path of such landslides can be completely destroyed. In 2014, a landslide in India killed at least 150 people.
