Im number X candidate applying for the English teacher of the secondary school. And my topic today is the grammar focus of section A in Unit 11 How was your school trip? To m
2、ake my presentation much clearer, Ill divide it into 6 parts, that is, the analysis of teaching materials, analysis of students, teaching methods, learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design. Now I am going to present them one by one.Part One: Analysis of Teaching MaterialThe first a
3、nd foremost is the analysis of the teaching materials. Todays lesson is the grammar part of section A in Unit 11 in book 2, published by Peoples Education Press. The learning content of this lesson is to comprehend the forms and functions of past events, such as wh- questions and yes-no questions, a
4、nd the past tense of regular and irregular verbs. The learning of the past tense of regular and irregular verbs can lay a good foundation for the expressing of past events, such as what they did in the past weekends, what they did when they were a little child, etc.With reference to the Curriculum S
5、tandard,I have set the following three objectives:Knowledge objectives:1. Ss can understand the wh- questions and yes-no question forms and functions of past tense. 2. Ss can remember the rules of the past tense of regular and irregular verbs.Ability objectives:1. Students can put the two kinds of q
6、uestion forms of past tense in to actual use and use the past tense of different verbs correctly in out daily life. 2. Through the pair work and group work of students, their comprehensive language abilities will be greatly improved.Emotional objective: Ss can appreciate the importance of being able
7、 to describe things happened in the past. They can realize the importance of time and develop the love for their hometown.Based on the teaching objectives mentioned above/ Given the teaching materials and the students characteristics, the teaching key points are that Ss can understand the wh- questi
8、ons and yes-no question forms and functions of past tense and they can remember the rules of the past tense of regular and irregular verbs. While the teaching difficult point is that students can put the two kinds of question forms of past tense in to actual use and use the past tense of different v
9、erbs correctly in our daily life.Part Two: Analysis of studentsAs students are the main part of classes, analysis of students can make our teaching more beneficial for the students. So we will come to the second part, analysis of students.Ss in grade 7 still maintain great interest in English learni
10、ng. Though having had a basic knowledge of English, some of them may display fear for English and havent got rid of dumb English. Furthermore, not all of them can apply what they learn to realistic communication with others. Their knowledge of simple present tense and present progressive tense laid
11、a foundation for them to understand the forms and usage of the past tense. Though the grammar knowledge seems very boring to them, teachers can arrange various activities to arouse their interest of learning English, which is a major aim for students of their age to learn English.Part Three: Teachin
12、g MethodsWith reference to the analysis of teaching material and students, three teaching methods will be specially employed. They are the task-based language teaching method, communicative approach and situational approach. These three different teaching methods can be complementary with each other
13、. With these teaching methods, students comprehensive language abilities will be greatly improved. In this class, students will be encouraged to do some tasks by working in groups, thus students language skills will be improved by completing the tasks and communicating with others.Part Four: Learnin
14、g MethodsIt is obvious that what teaching methods to employ is very important. Students in my class will be also led to learn with methods. Ss will be encouraged to carry out independent, cooperative and researched learning in order to stimulate students enthusiasm and interest in participating in c
15、lass activities. Thus, I will come up with varied forms of activities such as discussion, report, etc. I will also use practice-consolidation method to enable students to use what they have learned flexibly.Part Five:Teaching proceduresTaking all the analyses above into consideration, my teaching pr
16、ocedures will be shown in the next part.Step 1: Lead-inAfter greeting to the students, I will play an English song named “This old guitar” by John Denver. After playing the English song for two times. I will show the relics on the screen, and require students to find the sentences with past tense. P
17、laying English song can greatly arouse students learning interest and they will be happy to learn English in such an easy atmosphere. Step 2: Presentation Play the English song “the old guitar” one more time while students looking at the relics on the screen. Then require students to pay attention t
18、o the sentences using the simple past tense, write these sentences blackboard. Lastly, I will give explanation to the function and usage of the past tense. Especially point out the past tense of regular verbs and irregular verbs.Students will be greatly aroused to learn the simple past tense in such
19、 an atmosphere but not boring one. Step 3: Practice In order to practice what students have learnt, I will arrange three activities to practice. Activity 1: Students will be required to do exercises in the part 3a. Activity 2: Students will be divided into groups and each group will be given a pictu
20、re. And each of them will be required to make a short story, each member will make at least one sentence. The purpose of different activities can help students to improve their listening and speaking skills, and their cooperative ability can be enhanced.Step 4: Consolidation After the practice, stud
21、ents will be required to complete a task. A reporter for your hometown. Creates a situation in which a programmm called “The Past and Present of My Hometown” is in need of a host; Any one who can quickly describe what the hometown was like will be the host; examples will be given, for instance: My h
22、ometown was very small. It had few people.The task-based language teaching method is adopted in this step. Through completing the task, students comprehensive ability of language learning will be improved.Step 5: SummaryIn this step, students will be asked to summarize the language points they have
23、learnt in this class, and the teacher will make supplement and emphasizes the usages of the past tense. Finally, tell students the importance of time and to develop love for their hometowns. By summarizing the content of the class, students can get a main idea about the content of this class in the
24、end, besides, the emotional objective will be achieved in this step.Step 6: HomeworkIn this step, I will ask students to making a timeline: Ss make a survey about their family members and find out what they were like every five years in the past. Tell ss to bring them next class and present it.Give
25、open homework to guide ss to use the language they learn in class.Part 6: Blackboard DesignAt last, Id like to say something about my blackboard design. As you can see, I have mainly written the teaching key points on the blackboard, which make it much easier for Ss to understand the key points of todays lesson.
