3、nd interpret my lesson. The lesson plan I am going to talk about is from Senior English for China Students Book 1 Unit 2, English around the world. Ill explain how to teach and why do so from the following aspects: the analysis of teaching materials, analysis of students, teaching methods, learning
4、methods, teaching procedure and blackboard design.I.The analysis of the teaching materialsTodays lesson is from Unit2, Book 1, NSEFC, published by Peoples Education Press . Its main theme is about English around the world. Since English plays an important in the world, it is necessary to have studen
5、ts to realize the importance and necessity of having a good knowledge of English. My understanding of the teaching material includes 3 parts: the status and the function, teaching objectives, the important and difficult points.At the beginning, lets focus on the first part. This text is going to pre
6、sent different kinds of English exiting in the world from vocabulary, spelling, pronunciation and so on. General speaking, it is not difficult for the students to understand the text, but there are some new phrases and sentences that may be a little bit difficult. So before the students first readin
7、g, I will explain the new words and phrases briefly and after reading the whole passage, I will embody the usage of the news words and phrases, and get the student understand the difficult sentences. Thats all for the first part, now lets move to the second part. According to the teaching material a
8、nd the new curriculum of English, in order to fulfill the learning task of this lesson, I establish the following objectives:a) Knowledge objectivesBy the end of the lesson, Ss will have a better understanding of the meaning and structure of the text. Then Ss will grasp some useful words and express
9、ions such as elevator, petrol, gas, lorry, because of., come up., etc.b) Ability objectives Actually students should be encouraged to do speed reading in the first period of reading lesson. But the students in my class are lack of independent reading ability. In this class, I will encourage and help
10、 them to read, think and find out information by themselves most time. Since the main objective of reading course is to improve the Ss reading ability, Ill train their ability of identifying the general idea in the fast reading. And in intensive reading their ability of information-gathering and sum
11、marizing is developed. And the whole class is for Ss to develop their reading skills as scanning, skimming, information-gathering, summarizing and guessing the new words from the text.c) Moral objectivesThe text is introducing English from many aspects. So before learning the text, we will have a sh
12、ort discussion about the importance of English. I want the Ss to have the awareness of the importance of learning English and help them to cultivate the motherland consciousness. Well, so much for the teaching objectives, lets come to deal with the third part: the important points and the difficult

According to the national curriculum of English and language learning theory, when teaching reading, we should encourage the Ss to do speed reading for the first time, thats to say, we should encourage our Ss to read as fast as they can when they do the first reading. So much emphasis should
14、 be put on reading skills and reading comprehension as well. So the important points are that how to make Ss grasp the new words and phrases and how to improve their reading skills as scanning, skimming, information-gathering and summarizing. As to the difficult points, they are the same as the impo
15、rtant ones.II. The analysis of studentsStudents of grade 1 in high school have studied English for 6 years and grasped a certain amount of English knowledge. They can cooperate with their classmates to finish a task. And most importantly, their attention to the outside world and social issues has be
16、en enhanced in their early studies. And all of these are beneficial to todays teaching.III. Teaching and learning methods OK, lets focus on the ways of teaching and learning.Generally speaking, I adopt task-based language teaching and communicative approach in my class. As for learning, Ss will lear
17、n through independent reading, discussing and cooperating.I will use computer and blackboard as my teaching aids. Teaching procedure Here comes the most important part, the teaching procedure. It includes 5 steps: Step I: Lead-in and pre-reading, Step II: While-reading, Step III: Consolidation, Step
18、 IV: Post-reading, Step V: Homework.Step I: Lead-in and pre-reading Now lets come to the first step. There are three activities in this step .The activity is free talk. I will ask Ss to answer the following questions what do you know about English? And How many countries around the world whose offic
19、ial language is English? Here, Ss will get familiar with the basic knowledge of English. My purpose of this activity is to stimulate the Ss awareness of learning English.Step II: While-reading While-reading is the main part and I adopt the top-down reading model. This step is divided into 2 parts: f
20、ast reading and careful reading. Before reading, I will ask the Ss to predict what will talk in the text according to the title. It can exert the Ss imagination.1) Fast reading During fast reading, I will ask the Ss to reading the whole passage quickly and get the main idea of each paragraph. Usuall
21、y, the main idea of each paragraph is the first sentence or the last sentence, but this text is not. So the main idea of each paragraph will be matched because the Ss are lack of the skill of summarizing the main idea by themselves.2) Careful reading After getting the general idea of each Para., I w
22、ill deal with the details Para. by Para. In part one, I will ask the Ss to read quickly and do the exercises T or F. And if it is F, I will ask them to correct it. This exercise can help the Ss get the key information of the first paragraph in a short time and can deepen the Ss understanding of the
23、first paragraph. In part two, I will ask Ss the retell the development of English. This can help the Ss develop their ability of summarizing. If the Ss fell difficult in this part, I will encourage them to find the key sentences and try to join them together. And in the last paragraph, I will ask Ss
24、 to do some translation exercises to deepen the Ss impression on the new words. And these two questions can help the Ss gain a deeper understanding on the text.Step III: ConsolidationAfter dealing with the detailed information of each paragraph, I will ask the Ss to read the whole passage again and
25、do a blank filling exercise to consolidate what theyve learnt. It would be very difficult for Ss to find the answers from the text. Step IV: Post-reading Thats all for the while-reading. Now lets move to the fourth step. In this step, I will design one activity.The first activity is group discussion
