3、 often speaks of a person named B.M.Unable to fill in the blank,he reads on and finds that his wifes interest and friendship with this guy.Gilbert gradually grows jealous of B.M and angrily reads on.At last Gilbert learns that the unnamed man is Sissy Millers brother,who has killed himself.Gilbert a

8、 is careful,attentive and passionate.Angela cares much about her husband at the very beginning.After he becomes a politician,she realizes there will be extra burden for her.She becomes lonely as her husband gets busy.They dont often share the same concerns,which her huaband doesnt notice.The latter

9、part of the story reveals that Angela has developed her own thoughts and interests,and that she doesnt want to be left alone.Third person for most of the story and first person point of view in the diary.The third person point of view can keep a necessary distance between the reader and the story.It

10、 also creates suspense for the whole story.First person point of view,however,strengthens the authenticity of the story,and serves as a contrast to the third person point of view,which helps readers understand the story through different angles.Miss Miller,to Clandon,is just an ordinary woman in the

11、 working class,a hired assistance.The story reveals,however,Miller,whose brother is also the man that Angela loves,is a dear friend to Angela.The mere existence of Miller is in contrast to Clandons arrogance.Lagecy means the things left behind when somebody dies.To Clandon,when he is not aware of the truth,he thinks his wifes legacy is the property she leaves for her beloved.When he learns the truth,the word legecy becomes ironic because he learns from the diary that she has loved another person and dies for him.The End
