Today Ill talk about how to teach Section B of Unit 5 in Go For It for the students of

2、 Grade Eight. Ill analyze it in five parts. Part. Analysis of the Teaching Material 1. Status and Function The topic of this unit is about Invations. This is an interesting topic for students.Its great helpful to attract the attractions of students. Such a topic is related to daily life, so its help

3、ful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also helpful to improve the spoken English. It also provides some new language points for the students to master. In this part ,all activities can give students listening,speaking, readingand writing practice. These activities can help stude

4、nts improve their integrating skills. The target language is the basic for Ss to learn the other contents of this unit. So its very important to learn this lesson well. 2. Analysis of the students The students have learnt English for more than one year. They can understand some words and some simple

5、 sentences. For this lesson,the students have knownhow to use “can” to invite sb,and how to accept the invitation or refuse politely,and learn to arrange time reasonably, this is what I teach in this lesson. 3. Teaching Aims and Demands The teaching aims and demands are established according to Juni

6、or School English syllabus provision and the teaching material. (1) Knowledge Object In this unit students learn to talk about Invitations. Key vocabulary: tomorrow,weekday,invitation,training,chemistry theday after tomorrow,have.training Target language: Whats today? Its Monday,the 14th. Can you pl

7、ay tennis with me? When? Today! Sorry, I cant. I have to study for a test. (2) Ability Object To train the students ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing. To train students ability of making and using invitation cards and calendars. (3) Moral Object To arouse the students interest in c

8、lass activities. To train their team spirit by working in groups. To educate the students to respect others. 4. Teaching Importance To master the key vocabulary To understand and use the target language To master how to use your schedule to talk about your daily life. 5. Teaching Difficulties How to

9、 make and use invitation cards and calendar. How to invite friends and arrange time reasonably. How to retell the text. 6. Teaching Aids Multi-media computer, Tape recorder, PowerPoint and so on. Part . Anlysis of Teaching Methods 1. Communicative teaching method 2. Audio-visual teaching method 3. “

10、Task-based” teaching method As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School is to cultivate students abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson Ill mainly use “Communicative” teaching method,

11、 “Audio-visual” teaching method and “Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, Ill let the Ss to get a better understanding of the target language. Ill give the Ss some tasks and arrange six kinds of activities: watching CAI, writing some activities, listening, make conversations, listening pract

12、ice and group activities. Teaching special features To use these methods is helpful to develop the Ss thought. Part . Anlysis of Learning Methods 1. To take an active part in class activities. 2. To summarize the language points through their own thinking. 3. To make use of the new language material

13、 to express their own ideas. Part . Anlysis of Teaching Procedure Step 1. Greeting the class and revision The teacher asks the students:“What is the weather like today?” The students answer: Its sunny/warm/cloudy/cool Tell the students:Its the best time to go sightseeing/ swimmming. Then ask the stu

14、dents :Can you go with me ? Yes, Id like to./Sorry , I cant.I have to. Step 2. Presentation Bring out a calendar and say “This is a calendar, we can find the dates on it.” And ask “ Whats the date today?” Help the students answer: Today is October 9 th Whats the date tomorrow? Its October 10th. What

15、s the date the day after tomorrow? Its October 11h. Then teach some new words like this and show the words and phrases on the screen. -Whats today? -Its Tuesday,9th. Ask the students to answer the questions on the screen This activity introduce the key words. Step 3. Listening First, show the pictur

16、e on the screen.Ask the students to listen to the tape and circle Yes or No. Second, listen again, ask the students to match the pictures with the days. Third,check the answers After they do them correctly, give them some praise. This activity gives students listening practice in understanding the t

17、arget language in spoken conversation. Step 4. Pairwork Ask the students to look at the screen and work in pairs . Then ask some pairs to act them out to check the pronunciation. This activity provides guided oral practice using the target language. Step 5. Reading practice First,ask the students to

18、 listen to the tape,answer the question:When do they go to the movies? Second, ask the students to read the e-mail on SB Page29. And complete Sonias calendar on the left. Then play the tape for three times. For the first time the students only listen to understand the whole general meaning of the co

19、nversations. For the second time the Ss pay attention to the activity in each day and write them down. For the third time the Ss pay attention to the time the activities and check them. After that,retell the e-mail in my own words,and ask the students to repeat the e-mail according to the calendar.

20、This activity checks their pronunciation and train their reading ability. Retelling the text needs their good understanding and good memory as well as good language ability. This activity is a challenge for the quick learners to improve themselves. Step 6. Writing practice After retelling the e-mail

21、,the students can master how to arrange time reasonably. To go further, Id like to train the students to write their own e-mail. First, finish Part 3b.Help Tony to complete the e-mail on SB Page29 3b. Second, tell the students: My friend invites me to her party, but Ihave too many things to do. Can

22、you help me to write an e-mail to say why I cant visit next week. You can write it according to your own thoughts. Then, ask some students to read their e-mails. This activity guides the Ss to study English by thinking hard and conclusion. And it also provides the Ss a chance to use English freely.

23、They can say the e-mail according to their thought using the target language. Of course, at the same time, it trains the Ss speaking ability. Also, it guides the Ss to study English by communication. Step 7. Exercises Ask the students to do the exercises and check their answers. This activity help t

24、he Ss to master the target language better in this unit. Step 8. Homework Say: After class, finish step 7 and complete the chart in your book. The homework can help the students to consolidate the target language and train their writing ability. Step 9. Bb design This is my design of the blackboard.

26、eaching method. I design five tasks for the students to complete, and each task is harder than the former one. I try my best to make the lesson rich, effective, and instructive. But as we know, not all the students are of the same level, a few of them may have difficulty in task 4- retelling the e-m

27、ail. However, every coin has two sides. If all the activities are designed for the average students, the quick learners will not improve their ability in such a class.
