For viruses that dont change too much the measles virus(麻疹病毒),for example-getting vaccinated is a once and for all method to prevent you from becoming infected with the virus. If you had two measles vaccines when you were a child, you will be protected for life. However, its a different story when it comes to influenza(流行性感冒),commonly known as “the flu”, which generally peaks between December and February. Flu vaccines cannot protect us in the long term. There is no long-term immunity (免疫),according to Theodore Strange, associate medical director at Staten Island University Hospital in New York. The virus essentially changes its coatH1N1, H2N3, and so on. he told the website Healthline. Apart from a persons immune protection from flu vaccination declining over time, flu viruses are also constantly changing. So the vaccines are likely to be updated from one season to the next to protect against the viruses that research suggests may be the most common during the upcoming flu season. Thus, to develop effective flu vaccines, over 100 national influenza centers around the world conduct year-round surveillance(监测)for influenza. Researchers will test thousands of influenza virus samples from patients, according to the official website of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The World Health Organization also suggests there are three or four influenza viruses that are most likely to spread among people during the upcoming flu season. But even when a vaccine is developed. getting it can prove to be difficult, as it is in high demand and short supply. The timing of influenza vaccine production and distribution is unpredictable, thus the availability of the flu vaccine supply does not always coincide with(与.一致)peak demand. So scientists prioritize (划分优先顺序)access to the vaccination. The CDC recommends key populations, such as medical staff, teachers, students, children and those aged 60 and above, receive flu vaccines. This year the situation seems more complicated, as the upcoming flu season coincides with the COVID-19 pandemic. This could overwhelm hospitals, straining (过度 使用)resources and healthcare workers time. 28. What do we know about influenza? A. Influenza viruses are continuously changing. B. It commonly peaks between November and December. C. Getting two flu vaccines can protect people against the viruses. D. H1N1 and H2N3 are the most easily infectious flu viruses. 29. What do researchers do in order to develop effective flu vaccines? A. They update vaccines once a year. B. They monitor the flu throughout the year. C. They focus on one or two viruses during a period. D. Influenza centers worldwide share virus samples from patients. 30. Why do scientists prioritize access to the vaccination? A. Because not all people can afford it. B. Because some people refuse to get vaccinated. C. Because the vaccine is not safe for everyone. D. Because the vaccine doesnt always meet the demand. 31. What does the author think of the upcoming flu season? A. It could be more challenging than ever for medical workers. B. Enough resources have been prepared to cope with it. C. Flu vaccines will be provided for the public in November. D. The flu vaccines are expected to help prevent COVID-19. D Copenhagen, voted as the Best City for Cyclists and Worlds Most Livable City”, has a profound bicycle culture, one that is rooted in almost every Copenhageners daily life. For Copenhageners, bicycles are one of the best means of transportation. They are convenient, fast and environmentally friendly. Every morning, when I head to school. I can see a great many cyclists from all age groups riding their well-equipped and beautifully designed bicycles to school or work. What is most unbelievable for me is that even those aged 70 or 80 still prefer biking as their main mode of transportation. The Danes passion for bicycles is similar to the Chinese craze for ping-pong or Brazilians love of football; many great cyclists arise in Denmark who have already achieved great success in the international sporting arena. One example is Larsen Norman Hansen, a Danish professional road and track racing cyclist, who won one gold medal and two silver medals in big events. In addition, bikes are also huge part of the recreational life of many young Danes. One of my Danish friends, Laurits Genz, a 21-year- old Chinese studies student from Copenhagen University, has a hobby of rebuilding old bicycles. He has collected many old bikes from a recycling station near his home and completely restored them, giving them new parts and a fresh coat of paint. He believes that eventually, all of these bikes with that “classic“ look are going to be very sought after and valuable. Some people might wonder why bike-related culture is so universal and popular in Copenhagen, but not as much so in other parts of the world. I would name a couple of reasons: First of all, the infrastructure constructed in Copenhagen is very cyclist friendly. On many roads in Copenhagen, if cyclists can ride their bikes at the speed of 20 kph and remain stable, they can surf through on a wave of green traffic lights through the city without putting a foot down. Its absolutely a great environment. Another factor is the governments friendliness to cyclists. Because of this government policy, bikers enjoy a sort of encouraged state of privilege(特权),meaning they will stick to this means of transportation even during the coldest winter season. Danes tendency toward a healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle also lends itself to choosing cycling. 32. What makes the author feel most surprised according to Paragraph 2? A. People aged 70 or 80 preferring biking. B. The advantages represented by bicycles. C. The passion for bicycles shown by Danes. D. Bike-related culture rooted in Danes daily life. 33. How many factors contribute to the popularity of riding bikes in Copenhagen? A. 1.B. 2.C. 3.D. 4. 34. What can we learn from the text? A. Larsen Norman Hansen won three gold medals in big events. B. Bicycles are the best means of transportation in Copenhagen. C. Everyone in Denmark can rebuild old bicycles by themselves. D. The government policy is in favor of this kind of transportation. 35. What does the underlined phrase sought after in Paragraph 3 refer to? A. Fashionable. B. Newly-designed. C. Popular. D. Well-equipped. 第二节(共 5 小题;每题 2 分,满分 10 分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 36 In ancient times, most festivals would celebrate the end of cold weather, planting in spring and harvesting in autumn. Todays festivals have many origins, some religious, some seasonal, and some for special people or events. Some festivals are held to honor the dead or to satisfy the ancestors, who might return either to help or to do harm. For the Japanese festival Obon, for example, people should go to clean graves, light incense(香)and lamps, and play music. 37 38 The Dragon Boat Festival in China honours the famous ancient poet, Qu Yuan while in the USA, Columbus Day is in memory of the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the New World. Harvest and Thanksgiving festivals can be very happy events. People are grateful because their food is gathered for the winter and the agricultural work is over. 39 The most energetic and important festivals are the ones that look forward to the end of winter and to the coming of spring. In China there are dragon dances and carnivals and families celebrate the Lunar New Year together. Some Western countries have ver
