Warming-up & Leading-in Say chant: Teacher and students say the chant in Unit 2 together. Review words: Teacher creates a situation of magic school and review the key words in previous lesson together. 2. Pre-reading Teacher sticks the structure of school building on the blackboard and asks students to guess “What is it?” Teacher teaches the words building. 3. While-reading Activity 1: Listen & Answer Students listen to the passage and answer two questions as below, “What building is it? ” “How many floors? ” Activity 2: Listen & Guess Students listen to the passage again and play the guessing game to guess what rooms are on each floor. Teacher prepares nine pictures on the PPT. Each student can choose one picture. If they were right, we say bingo together. Activity 3: Stick Pictures Students can come to the front and stick the pictures on each floor and describe this floor by using the sentence “ We have . on the . floor.” Activity 4: Make a new chant Teacher chooses one favorite room to make a new chant. Students can choose their favorite room to make a new chant. Activity 5: Listen & Repeat Students read after the audio sentence by sentence. Activity 6: Lets retell Students can retell the passage according to the basic passage structure. 4. After-reading Task 1: Talk about our school (Group discussion) Teacher shows the picture of our school building and talk with students what is this? How many floors of our school building? What rooms do we have in our school building? Teacher prepares the video of some wonderful rooms and asks some questions in the video. Students can learn four new words “hall”, “dining hall”, “dancing room” , “penmanship room” and two expressions “the fourth floor” and “the fifth floor.” Students introduce our school in groups. Teacher can asks two groups to do a presentation in front of the class. Task 2: Design a new school Teacher shows some pictures of a poor school in a small village and asks students to observe this school and answer what do they think of this school. Students will be aroused the feeling to help them design a new school. Students can write it on the paper and share with us in front of the class. 5. Summary & Homework Summary: Teacher asks one students to summarize what we have learned today and makes some supplements timely. Teacher can emphasize that we love our school and we should cherish our school life. Homework: Students can finish the design of a new school after class and study hard from now on to help them in the future.
