In this lesson, Im going to talk about Unit 5 Do You Like Candies? Part A which is from Shan Xi Travel Press Primary English Book 2, Grade 3. It mainly focuses on the topic “food” and expressions of likes and dislikes. This topic is related to our daily life, which enable students to use simple words and expressions to express their eating habit. . The Analysis of Students Situation. My students are in Grade 3. They are active and curious, interested in every kind of new things. After learning English for half a year, they already have some basic English background knowledge. For example, they have some vocabulary about foods, fruits, drinks, animals, colors, stationary, and so on. So it is essential to integrate the old knowledge into the new lesson. It is also very important to develop students keen interest in English. . Teaching Aims and Demands. According to the new curriculum standard, and combining with students situation. I set the teaching aims as follows: 1. The aims of knowledge. to read, recognize, and use the new words and phrases. to use the sentence pattern to express their likes and dislikes. to do the survey in groups. 2. The aims of skills. to understand the new words and phrases through some picture prompts. to communicate with each other in English. to work in groups skillfully. 3. The aims of emotion. to cooperate well in group works. to cultivate good eating habits in the future. to be more and more initiative and creative. . Teaching Key Points and Difficulties. 2 1. To use the new words and sentences to express likes and dislikes. 2. To pay attention to the plural forms of nouns. 3. To enable Ss to work and cooperate in groups skillfully. . Teaching and Learning Methods. As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate pupils basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of English language. So in this lesson Ill mainly use Task-based Teaching Method as well as Communicative Teaching Method. That is to say, Ill let students learn in real situations, finish some tasks such as making a chant or doing a survey to help them get a better understanding of the key words and structures. I will arrange 8 kinds of tasks: singing, guessing game, making chants, hitting the mouse, radish down, paper scissor stone, making a survey and playing a performance. These tasks can help Ss analyze and solve the problems on their own. They can get information and learn from listening, watching and discussing. . Teaching Aids. In order to interest the students, Ill use multimedia equipment, word cards, some candy pictures and worksheet to assist my teaching, . Teaching Procedures and Purpose. Step 1. Warm up. / Revision. (3 minutes) 1. Lets sing Ten Little Monkeys. 2. Lets review.( Review some words about animal.) Animals are going to have a party. They prepared a lot of food. Review some words about food, fruit, and drink. Purpose: It is very important to sum up and do a brief moral education in the end of the class. That can help Ss consolidate the knowledge theyve learned in this class. Step 6. Homework. (2 minutes) 1. Do a survey in your family. 2. Draw some pictures about the new words in this class. Purpose: Revision is necessary after class. Ss should do more extensive exercise. . Anyway, the teaching of this lesson aims to develop not only the Ss language technical abilities, but also the diverse intelligence by integrated teaching methods.
