7、rom somewhere or someone else, as we have seen on the Opening page of each unit. 4) Repetition: Repetition is the use of the same word or phrase in a poem, speech, etc. It is often used to give emphasis. 5) Rhetorical questions: A rhetorical question is a question that is not meant to elicit an answ
8、er but is asked to make a point. 6) Simile: A simile compares two things by using words such as “like” or “as”. Ask students to fill in the blanks in the third part of Activity 3. Ask them to compare their rhetorical devices. Rhetorical devices can be difficult for students. Monitor the process of t
9、heir discussion and provide help when necessary. Step3 Discovering the structure of a speech text. Ask students to read the speech text again and list the main parts of a speech. Step4 Building up expressions and vocabulary Ask students to scan the passage and circle the expressions the author uses
10、to talk about how music makes her feel. Encourage students to brainstorm more expressions to describe that music brings to people. Step5 Outlining and composing a speech Give students time to complete their outlines for their speeches. Ask them to use the rhetorical devices that they come up with in
