This is the first period. The main idea of the topic is about shopping in English. We are going to learn the ways of ask ing, answering and estimating the price according to our common sense. So this period is very important in our daily life. Bisides, the students have learned numbers from 1-20 in Grade3, 21 to 60 in Grade4. Part 2 Teaching aims 1. Ability Aims (1)Students are able to understand and hackle the story by finishing the tasks: watch and answer, Read and find ect. (2)Students are able to read the story correctly and role play the story confidently through listening , reading, repeating and role playing in groups. (3)Students are able to express “thats cheap or thats expensive” according to their common sense. (4) Students are able to know about the ways of shopping in English in their daily life. 2. Knowledge Aims (1) Students are able to read the story correctly. (2) Students are able to know about the ways of asking and answering the price by using “How much is? Its./ How much are.? Theyre (3)Students are able to read and learn the new words: magic, expensive. (4) Students are able to know about yuan and dollar(s). 3. Emotion Aims (1)Having students experience the ways of shopping in English in their daily life. (2)Promote students ability of cooperation by group works and pair works. 4. Learning Strategies (1) Students are able to understand the story and apperceive new structures , through task-based activities such as “ Watch and answer” , “ Read and find” ect. (2) Students are able to hackle and retell the story by the mindmap. (3) Students are able to understand and learn to use the new words and structures correctly and properly by micro class and through task-based activities. 5. Cultural Awareness (1)Difference between yuan and dollar. (2)Know about the exchange rate between yuan and dollar. 2 Part 3 Teaching key points 1. Students are able to understand and hackle the story. 2. Students are able to read the story and role play the story. Part 4 Teaching difficulties 1How to identify the difference between yuan and dollar(s) correctly. 2. Know the difference between “How much is? ” And “How much are?” 3How to shop in English correctly, freely and confidently. Part 5 Students analysis and teaching methods Students are about 10 years old. They have own the ability of learning new words and structures in stories. They also have own the ability of communicating with each other by using simple English. So in this class, I mainly use story teaching method, activity approach, communicative teaching to involve our students in learning English. That is “Learning by doing, learning by using”. Part 6 Teaching aids PPT, Micro class, videos, recorder and material objects. Part 7 Teaching procedure Step 1. Lead in 1. Free Talk T: Do you like shopping? / Where do you usually go shopping? / Whats a school party? /What can we shop for the school party? Activating students background information about shopping and school party effectively. Step 2. Presentation 1. Understand the story (1)Guess and share in groups: What is Gogo doing? Watch the video and find the answer, and then learn the new words: magic/magic hat/do magic through short flash. Stimulating students interests of reading and learning the story through guessing. (2)Read and find: How much is the hat? Know about yuan and dollar(s). Know about cheap and expensive. Know about “ How much is? Its/ How much are/ Theyre Helping students understand the story and make breakthrough the key points and difficult points. (3)Listen and repeat Ss pay attention to the sounds and tunes. Such as: Wow! Thats expensive. Leading students understand the story deeply through the pronunciation and intonation. 3 2. Output the story (1)Role play Watch the video and practice in groups and then act it out. Its a good way for the students to try to understand the characters and the plots in groups. Its also a good feedback of the learning effect of the story. (2)Retell the story Ss retell the story according to the mindmap on the blackboard. Its another way of outputting the story. Besides, its another way of cultivating students thinking ability. Step 3. Extension 1. Expand the story: Think and order Students think and order in groups, and then know about the conversation about shopping in groups. 2. Shopping for Gogo Students practise to sell and buy things in pairs and then show it out before class. Thinking and doing is better than watching. Students are easier to understand the way of shopping through experience. That is learning by doing, learning by using. Step 4. Summary The usage of “How much is? Its” “ How much are? Theyre” Indicating the key points and the difficult points. Laying for the next class. Step 5.Homework 1.Read and retell the story according to the mindmap. 2.Write a conversation about shopping. Its not only a feedback of the learning effect but also a continous learning after class.
