1 Unit Five What does he do? Part B Lets learn & Write and discuss I.Teaching contents: This lesson is from primary school, and it mainly talks about the careers. This lesson will enlarge students vocabulary of jobs and help them learn to express the jobs what and where others do. II.Teaching objectives: A. Knowledge objectives: Enable the students to understand the main words: fisherman, scientist, pilot, coach and understand the sentences: What does he/she do? Where does he/she work? B. Ability objectives: Enable the students to use these new words and sentences in the dialogue. C. Emotional objectives: Help the Ss strengthen awareness of dream jobs. Foster the confidence and enthusiasm of learning. III.Teaching focus points and difficulties: A. Enable the students to grasp the main words. 2 B. Enable the students to use these new sentences in the situation. IV.Teaching aids: Whiteboard, tape and recorder, stickers, boy & girl stickers V.Teaching procedures: Step1: Warming-up A. Greet T: Good morning, boys and girls. How are you? Today we will go on Unit5 What does he do? B. Review the talk in PartB sing a song “What do you want to do?”. T: Now lets sing a song. Sing following it. OK? Ss: OK. T: So great! Wonderful! Purpose: Review the knowledge we have learnt before and prepare for the new knowledge. C. Leading in 1. Review the different jobs. (Present many kind of jobs. Show some pics: teacher, doctor, 3 factory worker, postman, businessman, police officer, nurse. ) T: Look, who are they? What does he/she do ? Ss: He/She is a/an _. T: What do you want to do? . Ss: I want to (Lead the Ss to say the words). T: All of these words can answer a question. And today we will also learn this unit. Look, that is Unit Five What does he do?(板书标题) 2. Free talk T: Now I will show you a famous character. And you can try to answer “What does he do?” Then finish the tree diagram together. Purpose: Ss are familiar with these characters and like this cartoon character very much. In this way we can draw their attention on the new topic naturally. And I can present the new sentences and words in it. 4 Step2: Presentation A. Present Zooms pic. T: Zoom has a dream. He wants to have a good job. But what is a good job? S: T: Do you want to help Zoom find that good job? S: Yes. B. Lets learn 1. Fisherman T: Zoon likes fish very much. So he wants to be a fisherman. Fish + worker = fisher + man = fisherman a. What does he do? Show the pic. He is a fisherman. She is a fisherwoman. (Lead in from businessman & businesswoman) b. Where does he work? A: He works at sea. 5 T: What will happen when you work at sea? What should you do? Do you want to be a fisherman? c. Zoom says 2. Pilot T: There is a cool job. Can you guess? Offer some clues and ask the Ss to guess. a. What does he do? T: Wow, you are right. He is a pilot. (Lead in from ice cream) b. Where does he work? A: She works in a plane. c. Zoom says 3. Coach T: If you dont want to work in a plane. Maybe you can work on the playground. Listen and look here. a. What does he do? A: He is a coach. (Lead in from coat) T: What coach do you know? 6 S: b. Play the video Play the video and read following it. Purpose: Motivate Ss to imitate and repeat the new patterns and talk. Step3: Practice 7 A. Miming game I will ask one student S1 to the whiteboard and face to us. Then show a job on the whiteboard. Next ask another S(S2) to do actions without words. S1 should guess what does he/she do? eg. S2: (do) Ss: What does he/she(S2) do? S1: He/She is a/an _. Ss: Yes!/No! I will make an example at first. Purpose: Improve their listening and speaking. Practice the basic knowledge about the words describing our teachers. Enable the Ss to express “He/She is” freely and help them to answer “What is he/she like?” more fluently. Now we can lead them to make a dialogue according to their classmates. Practice the sentences. B. Make a chant Make a chant according to the sentences we learned today. Whats he like? Whats he like? He is strict. He is short. 8 Whats she like? Whats she like? She is kind. She is thin. Whats Chen Jie like? Whats Chen Jie like? She is friendly. She is tall. Whats John like? Whats John like? He is strong. He is nice. Clap our hands and sing together. Consolidate the language points weve learnt this class. Purpose: Practice speaking.
