Step 3: While-readingSkimming Read the first sentence of each paragraph carefully and match the main idea with each paragraph. Step 4: While-readingScanning 1. Read Para.1 carefully and finish the mind map. 2. Read para.2 and fill in the chart 3. Read para.3 and answer the questions. (1) What might the Stonehenge be? (2) Whats the Stonehenge used for? 4. Read para.4 and answer the questions. (1) How old is Stonehenge believed to be? (2) Do people know how it was built? (3) What does Paul Stoker think of the planners? Step 5: Review some linking words and phrases and use them properly. (1) By learning the meaning of not only.but also, students can understand what they read better. (2) Read the article and underline the linking words and phrases. (3) Match each linking word or phrase with its purpose. (4) Summarize the passage by choosing proper linking words from the column. Step 6: Post-readingretelling (1) Review the text step by step. (2) Retell the passage according to the structure in group. Step7: Summary Lets review what we have learnt in this class. 1. Something about Stonehenge. 2. The use of linking words and phrases. Step8: Discovery Indeed, stonehenge is a mistery, can you think of any other mysteries in the world? Show the pictures of Pyramid, the Mayan civilization, Yugoslavia: the sleeping cat, Incredible Taichichuan. Let students open their eyes. World is full of beauty and wonders, study hard and try to experience more. Step9: Homework Write a short passage about a mystery that is similar to Stonehenge.
