Unit5 What are the shirts made of? The second period Teaching Aims: 1 Help students get to know how tea is produced by listening and reading the conversation in Section A 2d of Unit 5. 2 Guide students to know how tea was invented and spread by reading the passage in Section 3a of unit 6. 3 Help review the usage of passive voice. 4 Help students be interested in Chinese tea culture. Teaching Key Points: 1 Training students listening ,speaking and reading abilities. 2 Key sentences of the passive voice (1) key phrases: be known for ; as far as I know ; be good for ; by accident ; notuntil ; take place ;without doubt (2) key sentences: Where is tea produced in China? They are picked by hand and then are sent for progressing. Do you know tea was invented by accident? It seems that many people all over the world drink Chinese tea. It is said that a Chinese ruler called Shennong was the first to discover tea as a drink. Teaching difficult points : Helping students to review the usage of passive voice Teaching Steps: Step 1 : Greeting . Step 2: lead in Show students some pictures of different kinds of tea and ask them try to guess the names of the tea. At the same time , tell them : Many people around the world enjoy drinking tea. As we all know, China is the hometown of tea. Tea culture is a part of traditional Chinese culture. In China, there are many kinds of tea , including green tea, oolong , black tea and so on. Today, we are going to know more about tea. Step 3:Listening practice 1 Ask students to listen to Liu Jun and Pams conversation about tea and then ask them to choose which topics are included in the conversation. Then check the answers. 2 Tell students to read the dialogue in 2d quickly, and then answer five questions to have a better understanding of it. According to this dialogue, which two places are known for tea? Where is tea grown ? How are tea leaves picked? Where is tea sent? Why is Chinese tea drunk all over the world? Before answering the questions ,ask students pay attention to the passive voice of the verbs. Then ask some of the students to give the answers without looking at the book. 3 Invite some students to try to tell how tea is produced according to the clues and ask them to fill in the blanks by using be done. 4 Show students some key language points in the conversation. 5 Ask students to fill in the blanks according to the conversation and check the answers together. Step5: Homework Writing practice According to what we have learning today, write a passage to introduce tea, including how tea is produced ,how tea was invented and how it spread to other countries.
