Make students love music and life. Teaching Important and Difficult Points 1. Teaching Important Points 1). Learn the vocabulary about the musical instruments. 2). Enable the students to get a general idea of exclamations 3). Let the students make conversations about some posters 2.Teaching Difficult Points 1). How to motivate the students initiative to express themselves. 2). How to improve the students spelling words ability. 2 II Analysis of Students Students of Junior Two have gradually got used to the new textbook, but they are weak in learning by themselves. Besides, the materials are new to them, so I make the teaching process from easy to difficult, from surface comprehension to further comprehension and let students act on their own initiative. In addition, the students in Middle School are very sensitive to everything around them. They want to learn a lesson not only with knowledge but also with interest. Thus motivating the students interest is very important. III Teaching Methods According to the demands of listening and speaking abilities in Project English, I organize and guide students to know about the musical instruments and improve their spelling words ability and speaking ability about posters with the demonstration of pictures teaching method and task-based teaching method. Here are also three teaching theories applied in the teaching procedures. 1. Make students the real masters in class while the teacher herself acts as a director. 2. Combine the language structures with the language functions. 3. Let students receive the moral education while they are learning the English language. IV Learning Methods 1. Learn and sing the word spelling with syllables. 2. Skim the poster and guess the key information (question-and-answer activity). 3. Listening-comprehension to train students listening ability and get some information from the text quickly. (watch-and-listen activity). 4. Free discussion to get the further understanding of the text. 5. Individual, pair or group work to make every student take part in these activities. Teaching Aids 1. computer multimedia projector 2. a blackboard V Teaching Procedures Step I Greeting Greet the students as usual. Step II Lead in First of all, I guide students to know about the musical instruments by watching the videos. Next offer students a song to sing the vocabulary about the musical instruments and then show them some pictures to arouse their interest and desire to get to know what is the dialogue about. 3 Method: discussion and question-and-answer activities Purpose: Make students have a brainstorming about different kinds of musical instruments to arouse students interest of study and get into the lesson easily. Step III Scanning Task 1: Let students have a quick look at the poster to answer two questions and get the main idea of the concert (work in individuals) Who will sing at the concert? When and where will the concert start? Suggested answers: Celine Dion; At 7:30 p.m. at the Music Hall. Task 2: Let students watch and listen to the video and get two detailed answers (work in individuals) What is Sally going to do this Sunday evening? What is Jack going to do? Method: question-and-answer activity Purpose: improve the students scanning reading ability and enable students to know about the structure about a poster while help them get a general idea of the dialogue. Step IV Language points Task 1: First let students underline some important phrases and ask them to translate into Chinese to have a better understanding of the dialogue. 1. this Sunday evening 2. go to a concert 3. at the concert 4. give the concert Method: individual work and pair work Purpose: Train students translating ability and let them be familiar with the text again, paying attention to the pronunciation and intonation. Task 2: Next let students scan the dialogue and get the exclamation sentences and write them down, at the same time, tell the good feeling from the bad one How exciting! It sounds beautiful! 4 Expressions Task 3: Then show students some pictures and ask them descriptive sentences, thus induce the exclamations and make a summary by teacher.
