This will be achieved by: a) Teaching students to apply the following basic reading strategies: scanning, skimming, predic

4、t the general idea according to title and topic sentences, and the key facts of the target reading material. b) Asking students to have some extension activities: answering the questions, doing true or false exercise and circling the pictures. c) Asking students to share their ideas in the group and

5、 try to introduce the lost and found office in No.19 Middle School. Emotional objective: a)to cultivate the moral character of returning lost money and helping others, b)to develop the spirit of cooperation through teamwork Cultural awareness: To know more about the lost and found offices in western

9、d, chalk, computer, exercise paper Learning& teaching arrangements: Step 1 Warming up (1 minute) 1. Greetings 2.Free talk. Have a free talk with students by asking the following questions? What is it? Whose is it? Is it yours? Present some things they lost on the playground. Purpose: Having a daily

10、talk with students can stimulate students interests in learning English. It can also make students use the main structure “It is mine” “I dont know” “Maybe is the teachers” to review what they learned last class and it leads to the teaching of new words. Step2. Lead-in & vocabulary teaching(4 minute

11、s) Present the new words. Show some pictures and learn the new words: camera, mobile phone, airport, plane, hundred, two hundred by asking questions: 1.Brainstorm What do people usually lose? 14、s better grasp the new words. Step 3: Reading 1.Let students read the title and look at the picture and predict and main idea of this passage. T: Is the lost and found office big or small? S: Its small. T: Yes, maybe. But today we will learn something about the lost and found office in New York. (Pr

15、esent the title and the picture) T: What may the passage tell us? S1: What things do people usually lose? S2: When do people usually lose things? S3: Purpose: Let the students read the title and the picture to guess the main idea of the passage. 2. Present the article. (1) Let students read and find

16、 the main idea of each paragraph. T: There are 3 paragraphs in this passage, lets read it quickly and match the main idea of each paragraph. T: Who will try? What is the paragraph 1 about? S1: Why are there lost and found offices at the airports and stations. T: How do you know? S1: Thats why there

17、are lost and found offices at airports and stations. T: Good, this is the topic sentence of this paragraph. Check paragraph2-3 in the same way. T: So we can get the main idea of the topic sentence. Purpose: Let the students read and find the main idea of each paragraph to help them understand the ar

18、ticle in general. These two steps are to train Ss ability of skimming by reading the title , the first and the last sentence of each paragraph, and noticing the picture.
