1、Saying Something about Teaching Good morning, everyone. Its my pleasure to be here to share some of my teaching ideas with you. My topic today is “What are the shirts made of?” taken from Unit 5 in Student Book of Grade 9. Its made up of five parts. Part One Talking about teaching material The topic
2、 seeks to introduce materials of different things in English and understand the usage of passive voice. And it runs through the structure “What is it made of/from?” and some things in our life and their materials, such as chopsticks, coin, fork, blouse, silver, glass, cotton, steel, and so on. Meani
3、ng while, it makes students learn to describe the places where the things were made exactly. By teaching and learning this part, students will have a chance to pay more attention to the materials of some daily things and develop students good life habits. And even cultivate their sense of their love
4、 for our country. As we know “Go for it” aims to enable students to learn the knowledge of English language around students life. Students have learned something related with their daily life and school life in the previous units. This unit is a further extension of the content we have learned befor
5、e. Therefore, this top is necessary, important, practical, lively and interesting. The teacher will lead them to dip into the language application, so that they can learn without much difficulty and develop their abilities. In this part, teaching aims and demands are the following: 1) To Learn the s
6、tructure “Whats it made of/from?” and Where was it made? And some new words: chopsticks, coin, fork, blouse, silver, glass, cotton, steel 2) To understand the usage of passive voice. 3) Get to know the way to describe the materials of different things. 4) Enable students to know that we should have
7、a good life habit and even have a good sense of love for our country. I think the difficult and key points are that how to tell the difference of be made of and be made from. Part Two Talking about teaching methods: To cultivate students abilities of listening and speaking skills, and their good sen
8、se of the English language. So in this part Ill mainly adopt two methods: “Communicative” teaching and “Task-based” teaching method. In the former one, students are engaged to express their opinions by discussing and practicing, students can be allowed to speak and listen to each other, offer and ac
9、cept each others help. When students are doing activities, the teacher just joins them, giving them suggestions and the help they need, encouraging and correcting them timely. The latter one puts an emphasis on learning how to communicate through interaction in the target language. In a word, I want
10、 to make the students the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as director. I also hope to combine the language structures with the language functions and let the students receive some moral education while they are learning the English language. Part three Talking about learning met
11、hods Let Ss study in a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. So in the class the teacher should guide the students to practice the sentence pattern and sum up the sentence structure themselves. Have the students take part in the activities of learning. Let them get personal learning while they are inte
12、racting. Part 4 Teaching Process: . Warming up 1. Show a note of 100 yuan to ask students “Whats it made of?”(paper) and then ask students to think of other things that are made of paper so as to lead in to the new topic 2. Show some pictures of different kinds of shirts to lead into the title “What
13、 are the shirts made of? 【Purpose】To attract students attention and arise their interests in this topic II. Presentation 1. Show some pictures of different things and their materials on the big screen. Try to learn the new words using “be made of” structure. New words: chopsticks, coin, fork, blouse
14、, silver, glass, cotton, steel Structure: Whats it made of? - Its made of 2. Game (Eye challenge). After showing all the new words and sentence structures. The teacher shows groups of pictures with different things and materials quickly to ask students make the sentences to consolidate the new words

Discuss with their partners and match them with the materials. 4. Show some different beautiful pictures of cars( it can
