Step 2. Flashcard activity 1. Present the flashcards for this Unit. Play the courseware for Monday. Model the word and have the children repeat it after you. 2. Now say, “Today is Monday.” Have the children repeat the sentence after you. Repeat the procedure for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 3. Now present the question form, What day is it today? Write the question on the board and explain its meaning. Read the question aloud. Point to the words as you do so. Have the children repeat the question after you. 4.Now review the two answer forms, Today is Monday. And Its Monday. Play the courseware for Tuesday. Have a child come to the front of the class. Ask the child, “What day is it today?” The other children should answer, “ Today is Tuesday.” or “Its Tuesday.” 5. Learn the other structures like this. And then have the children open their books at page 2. Direct their attention to the pictures at the top of the page. As you play the tape, have the children touch the matching picture or word. 4. Replay the tape while showing your copy of the page. Stop the tape after each sentence and have the children repeat Practisethe students listening And speaking Ask the children to know the new languages of this unit and at the same time, show the topic: “Today is Monday” Elicit the new words Practise the new sentences. Consolidate the new the sentence. 5. Play the tape again without stopping. Have the children say the sentences along with the tape. Then without the tape, point to one of the pictures or sentences and elicit the sentences from the children. repeat for all the other pictures. Step 4. Pair work: Ask the students to talk about their work with their partners. And then act it out. Step 5. Group work: Ask the students to make a new dialogue in their groups. And then act it out. Step 6. Fight game: The students have five minutes to prepare the competition. Game 1: Please say out the new words in Chinese. Game 2: Please say out the new words in English. Game 3: Please find out the next sentence. Step 8 Extend: What does your mother do on Wednesday? What does your father do on Thursday? What does your brother do on Saturday?
