Three minutes talk. 3. Greeting and free talk. Good morning, boys and girls. Look, today is a sunny day. Do you like sunny days? What do you like doing on sunny days? What does she/he like doing on sunny days? . II. The presentation of the new material 1. Show a picture of clock and Damings daily activities. T: Look! Its eight oclock. Daming says “I usually listen to music at eight.” What do you usually do at eight? (T explains usually, it means you do these things everyday.) S1: I usually read books at eight. S2: I usually eat breakfast at eight. When pupils say them, T pays attention to the pronunciation of usually. (T writes the sentences “What do you usually do at eight? I usually listen to music.” on the Bb and underline “at eight”, “listen to music”.) Then have students read the sentences for several times. 2. T shows the time and asks Ss. T: Look! Its five oclock. What do you usually do at five? S1: I usually go home at five. 3. T plays the video of Activity 1 on page 32. We usually go home at five. What about the bears? Lets watch a video. T: What does the bears usually do at four? Ss: They usually do home at four. Changes & Additions 6-2 Play the video again and read after it. ( T explains the new sentences “come and play with us all.”) 4. T shows more pictures of daily activities and teaches the phrases one by one. (Let the students have the overall sense of the different activities.) What does the girl do? She rides a bike. (T does the action and writes the key phrase ride a bike on the Bb.) What does the little boy do? He does his homework. (T does the action and writes the key phrase do his homework on the Bb.) What does the boy do? He plays basketball. (T does the action and writes the key phrase plays basketball on the Bb.) . Then ask students to read the key phrases after teacher. 5. T shows a picture of park, and says I usually go to park and ride a bike on Sundays. How about you? T: What do you usually do on Sundays? S1: I usually do my homework. S2: I usually ride a bike. xxx says he usually rides a bike, but hes not riding a bike today. (T writes the key sentences on the Bb and does the actions to explain the differences between usually and now.) Then have students read the sentences for several times and pay attention to the singular third person. 6. Show the pictures of Daming of Activity 2 on page 32. Our friend Daming usually does many things. But hes not doing them today. Why? Lets listen and find. On Sundays, Daming usually plays basketball/helps his father/rides his bike/does his homework. T: Is he playing/helping him/riding it/doing it today? Changes & Additions 6-3 S1: Hes not playing basketball today. S2: Hes not riding it today. T: Why? Whats he doing now?(Ask questions to develop their abilities to locate specific information) S1: Because Daming is ill. T: Yes, hes ill and he feels uncomfortable, so he is in bed. (T acts “ill” and in bed, and has students understand the meaning of them.) III. Drill 1. Read the story after the audio, sentence by sentence and mime the pronunciation and intonation. Perhaps it is hard for some students to read the story. The teacher can sum up the new words and teach them in different ways. And then teacher can invite some students to be little teachers to teach us to read the story. (The teacher needs to pave the way for direct output of the story.) 2. Role-play to act the story. 3. Invite Ss to show. IV. Practice 1. Daming usually does many things. But hes not doing them today. So, how about you? T: What do you usually do? S1: I usually . T: Are you doing it today? S1: No, Im not. today. T: Youre having English class. T presents the dialogue of Activity 4 on page 34, so we can say like this. For example, A: I usually ride my bike. But Im not riding it today. B: Youre having an English class. 2. Get pupils to act the dialogue in pairs. 3. Ask one or two groups with lively intonation and reasonably accurate pronunciation to come to the front to perform. V. Consolidation Changes & Additions 6-4 1. Show the pictures of Activity 3 on page 34, have students to read it together. 3. Encourage students to come to the front and read it for us. VI. Homework 1. Listen to the audio and read Activity 2 on page 32 for twice. 2. Make some sentences with ” usually” and “-ing”. VII. Blackboard Design VIII. Reflection after Teaching
