新牛津高中英语语法讲练十四新牛津高中英语语法讲练十四 作主语和宾语的动词作主语和宾语的动词-ing 形式形式 作主语和宾语的动词-ing 形式通常称为“动名词”,也是动词非谓语形式之一。因为动 名词的形式和现在分词形式一样,语法上把动名词和现在分词都称为动词-ing 形式。其实, 它们之间的区别还是很大的。功能上看,动名词具备名词的特征,一般作主语和宾语等; 而现在分词具有形容词和副词的功能,可作定语、状语和表语等。如: Getting up early is a good habit. (动名词作主语) Teachers job is giving. (现在分词作表语) There is a big reading room in our school library. (动名词作定语) At the surprising news, she didnt know what to do. (现在分词作定语) She practices speaking English every day. (动名词作宾语) We dont allow smoking here. (动名词作宾语) The teacher walked around in the classroom, waiting for the students to ask questions. (现在 分词作状语) 动词-ing 形式作为动名词,主要功能是作主语和宾语。以下几点需要注意: 1.动名词作主语,有时常用 it 作形式主语。而这种“it 作形式主语”的句型多半是:It is useful/of use/useless/no use doing. It is no good doing. It is a waste of time doing. 如: Singing is fun. Hearing how others react to the book you have just read creates an added pleasure. It is no use crying. It is no good doing such a thing. 2.动名词作主语常和很多动词形成固定搭配。也就是说:英语中有很多动词只能有名 词作宾语,当后面为动词时,就只能用动名词(动词-ing)。这些动词可以总结如下: consider, suggest, advise, admit, delay, imagine, fancy, avoid, miss, keep, practice, deny, finish, enjoy, appreciate, allow, permit, risk, forbid, escape, mind, encourage You must avoid making such mistakes. The English teacher encourages speaking English in the school garden. You cant imagine making a living alone there. 当然,不能把上面的部分词后跟宾语再跟宾语补足语混为一谈。注意比较: We dont allow them to smoke in the meeting-room. We dont allow smoking in the meeting-room. The doctor advised stopping smoking. The doctor advised him to stop smoking. 3.介词后面的动词作宾语用动名词(动词-ing)。 We learn to swim by swimming. The old man kept on studying English till he could write articles in English. 英语中有相当一部分“动词+介词”的短语,后面接动词只能用动名词(动词-ing)。可 以大致归纳如下: be good at, be devoted to, look forward to, keep on, object to, get down to, stick to, insist on, feel like, hear of, apologize for, dream of, think of/about, prevent/stop/keep.from doing., agree on, depend on, lead to, when it comes to, pay attention to, attach importance to, worry about, set about, thank sb. for, excuse sb. for, be/get used to, expose oneself to, be addicted to, contribute to, result in。还有:put off, give up, cant help doing. I look forward to visiting you soon. I am used to living here. He was prevented by his illness from going to school. The food poison led to fifty students staying in hospital for a long time. 4.动名词(动词-ing)是动词的非谓语形式之一,它本身有着动词的特征,可以有自己的 逻辑主语和逻辑宾语。如: Your coming made all of us happy. Do you mind my/me smoking here? Marys parents dont approve of her going out at night. His dream is helping others in his life. 5.动词-ing 形式作为动名词,作主语和宾语时,在有些句境中要使用被动形式。如: -What made Mary that happy yesterday? -Being praised by her boss.
