Teaching Plan (PEP Grade3 Volume1) Unit 3 Food Lets spell Analysis of Materials The material is from PEP Primary English Grade 3, Volume2. This lesson is the third period in Unit3. The rule of “a” and “e” in closed syllable were presented before. According to the New Curriculum Standard, we should cultivate the students abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. As for the core competence of English subject, we should improve students language competence, cultural character, trait of thinking and learning ability. Analysis of Students Our students are in Grade 3. Theyre active and curious about the activities, such as games, competitions and etc. theyve learnt some words and phrases about animals, body parts, actions, items and so on. Teaching Aims: Language Competence Aims: 1. Understand and say the new words 2. Understand and master the rule of “i” in closed syllable. 3. Understand and read the picture book Pig sits. Learning Ability Aims: 1. Be able to read the words according to the rule of “i” in closed syllable. 2. Read short stories and passages with the help of phonics. Trait of Thinking Aims: Improve creative thinking by making new words. Cultural Character Aims: 1. Cooperate with others. 2. Help others when they need help. Communicative Teaching Method Teaching Aids: 1. Multimedia 2. Flashcards 3. Pictures Teaching Procedures: Step I. Warm up 1. Greeting. 2. Listin to a phonics song. Step II. Revision Review the rule of “a” and “e” in closed syllable. And try to read some words. Step III. Presentation 1.Find the rule of “i” in closed syllable. Listen to the recording, and ask students to find the rule of “i” in closed syllable. 2. Practice spelling. Change some letters, and ask students to spell the words. 3. Introduce “sit” and “sits” Teach students how to read sits. 4. Show the picture book. Listin to the recording. 5. Ask students to read the new words with “i” in the picture book. 6. Read the picture book in groups. 7. Introduce this book, and ask some of the students to read it and act it. 8. Read the book together. Step IV Consolidation and Extension. 1.Practice. Ask students to write the words after listening to them. 2.Make some new words, and try to read them. 3. Help the pig to clean his room. Homework Read another story book “Pig jigs” .
