Thanksgiving Day is from the United States, the aim is to thank God giving good harvest(收获) and the help from the Indians(印第安人). In America, Thanksgiving Day is the fourth Thursday in November every year, and from the date will be on leave for two days. So people use this time to go back to their hometown from the places where they have been working or studying. Families are together. They have a big, special dinner . They say thank you for all the good things they have. They have a lot of fun. The traditional foods are turkey, potatoes and pumpkin pie(南瓜饼). Also the biggest shopping day of the year just so happens to fall on this holiday too, known as “Black Friday”(黑色星期五). It marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. 1. Module 6 Festivals 模块整合第五课时教学设计 Compare the festivals 一教学内容分析 This module is about festivals. In Unit11, Ben, Xiaoling and Janet talk about what the Chinese people do during the Spring Festival. Unit 12 is a passage describing how people in some countries celebrate Christmas. Festivals are interesting for the students, and this module is about the foods and activities of the festivals. And we can compare them and cultivate students trait of thinking. 二教学目标: 依据新课标的要求,基础教育阶段英语课程的总体目标是培养学生的综合语言运用能力,而综合语言运用能力又以学生的语言技能、语言知识、 情感态度、学习策略和文化意识五方面的综合素养为基础,基于以上认识,我将教学目标确定为: 1.语言知识目标: 复习单词和短语:jiaozi, turkey, ham, potato, New Year cake, jiandui, oil angle, clean their houses, buy new clothes, give each other gifts, give children lucky money, wish them a happy Spring Festival, eat lots of delicious food, put up a large Christmas tree, put many gifts under the Christmas tree, get many wonderful presents from Father Christmas, hurry to open the gifts, have a big Christmas lunch or dinner, sing many wonderful Christmas songs. 复习和运用句型: Whats your favourite festival? When is? What do people do before/during ? What do people eat? What do you think of? 2. 语言能力目标: 通过本课复习,能用英语表达在春节,圣诞,中秋,感恩节人们的活动和食物。 能比较春节和圣诞,中秋和感恩节,中国南北春节中人们的食物和活动的异同。 3、情感目标: 通过本课的各种活动,培养学生尊重和理解中西方以及中国南北方相似节日的异同,培养学生的归纳,分析,比较的能力以及优秀的思维品质。 4、教学重点: 本单元的核心词汇和句型。 能用英语表达春节和圣诞,中秋和感恩节,中国南北春节中人们的食物和活动的异同 5、教学难点:能用英语写出中国南北方春节人们的食物和活动的异同。 三教学流程: 教学过程教学活动及具体的操作步骤学生学习活动设计意图 Warming - upPresent some interesting pictures about the Spring Festival and Christmas, and along with the songs of “Happy New Year” and “We wish you a Merry Christmas” Look at some interesting pictures about the Spring Festival and Christmas, and sing the songs of “Happy New Year” and “We wish you a Merry Christmas” 活跃课堂气氛, 同时引出接下要比较的两个节日:新年和圣诞。 Presentation 1. Show our 3 friends: Miss White, Xiaoling and Janet, Miss White gives them an assignment about making albums of these two festivals on activities and foods. 1. Understand what we should do next part 1.设置情境,引出主题。归纳本单元的核心词汇与句型。 2.引导学生归纳、总结、分析圣诞与春节的异同。 3.拓展阅读感恩节的相关语篇。 & Practice 2. Open Xiaolings album page by page, review the phrases of Unit 11, open Janets album and review the phrases of Unit 12. 3. Ask ss “What do people do before/ during the Spring Festival?” and “What do they eat at the Spring Festival? ” ,afterwards ask ss “What do people do before/during Christmas?” and “What do they eat at Christmas?” and then ask them to compare their similarities in group. 4. Miss White give them another assignment: compare two other important festivals, and lead to Mid- autumn Festival and Thanksgiving Day 5. Ask ss to put some pictures about their Mid-autumn Festival in Xiaolings album and talk about them in groups 6. Read the passage about Thanksgiving Day and finish the exercise, 2. Look at the pictures of their albums, recall and speak out the phrases of Unit11, 12 in groups 3. Analyze and summarize their similarities and differences in groups and speak out 4. Understand we should compare the Mid-autumn Festival and Thanksgiving Day 5. Look at our pictures about Mid- autumn Festival and tell the teacher ”What do we do before/during the Mid-autumn Festival?” and “What do we eat?” 6. Read the passage and finish the exercise 4. 呈现任务,引导学生运用核心词汇与句型分析对比中秋节 与感恩节。 7. Compare their differences and similarities and retell 7.
