Analysis of the teaching material 本课内容是外语教学与研究出版社,三年级起点,五年级下册第二单元Life in the Arctic的第二课时The polar bear。这个课时以chant的形式,描述了北极熊的几个动词短语:jump in the water, swim across the lake, walk through the snow, run up the hill。同时要注意动词单三形式的搭配与使用。2. Analysis of the students五年级的学生

2、在学了两年半英语的基础上,已经能够对一些话题进行简单的谈论和交流,这一课时又是以学生喜欢的chant的方式来呈现他们喜欢的动物the polar bear,因此能极大的激发他们学习的热情与积极性。但同时,五年级的学生已经产生了害羞的情感,对于能够开口说唱,动手做动作可能会放不开。3. Teaching Objectives:By the end of the class, my students will be able to:(1) listen, speak, read and write the words and phrases: polar bear, over there, cat

3、ch, across, lake, through, hill, top, come to a stop.(2) listen, speak, read and write the sentences: Whats over there? A big polar bear. Whats he doing over there? He is swimming. He wants to catch a hare. He jumps in the water. He swims across the lake. He walks through the snow. He runs up the hi

4、ll.(3) say the chant.(4) understand the grammar rules when the subject is third person singular, the verb words should plus “s” and also they can make correct sentences according to the rule. (5) have a basic information about the Arctic and the animals living here.(6) have the emotion of protecting

5、 animals and the environment by doing little thing, such as turn off the light, turn off the tap. 4. Teaching Important and Difficult Points:(1) Teaching important points:Students are able to understand, listen, read and use the words and phrases: jump in the water, swim across the lake, walk throug

Students can say the chant The polar bear.(2) Teaching difficult points:Students can understand the grammar rules when the subject is third person singular, the verb words should plus “s”.5. Ss: Yes/ No. T: But today Ill show you a place. It is very very cold, and there is ice everywhere. Do you know where is

8、 it? Ss: It is the Arctic.(同时教授并复习单词the Arctic,引出单元课题:Life in the Arctic.)T: Next, Ill show you a video about the Arctic, and now lets just enjoy the beauty of the Arctic. So, welcome to the Arctic!(播放关于北极的视频,让学生进入情境。)Step 2 Presentation(1) (看完视频后)T: After watching the movie, can you tell me whats o

9、ver there in the Arctic? What animals do you know in the Arctic?Ss: the seal, the polar bear, the Arctic fox, the Arctic hare, the snowy owl.(学生边说边出示图片并教授复习动物单词。)T: OK. Now can you tell me whats your favourite Arctic animal? Which one do you like best?Ss: My favourite Arctic animal is the ./ I like

10、. best.T: Now, class, can you guess my favourite animal?(老师边说边出示图片,并配以相应动作)It has got four legs. It is big and fat. It lives in the Arctic. It can swim. It eats the hare. Can you tell me what does he want?(第一次听歌曲,带着问题整体感知)Ss: He wants a hare.(老师出示动作图片,教授单词catch. 并学说句子He wants to catch a hare.)(4

12、) 出示图片,并告诉学生It is not easy to catch the hare. 并教授单词hill, lake, snow.(5) What does he do to catch the hare?(请学生根据图片说出下列句子)He jumps in the water. He swims across the lake. He walks through the snow. He runs up the hill.(并听课本这一段的录音学唱,并配以动作。)(6) say and order(根据刚刚的学唱,请同学们根据北极熊图片说出what does he do?并听音排序)(

13、7) In the end, dose he catch the hare?(教授最后一段歌曲,并学说top, come to a stop, look around, whats not there?)Step 3 Practice(1) (整体呈现歌曲,并第二次听录音学唱)学生边唱边做,并配以节拍和动作。(2) 第三次听录音,并请同学上来展示动作并学唱。(3) 不听录音,整体唱一遍并配以动作。Step 4 Production(1) (在课堂开始之前,就给每个小组发了一张Life in the Arctic的paper和若干北极动物动作的卡贴。在整堂课中,如有同学回答对问题,便可以为小组获

14、得一张卡贴。)在学完整首chant后,请同学们拿出每组的卡纸和获得的卡贴,制作自己的chant.(2) 制作之前,PPT呈现并为学生讲解一个范例,并提供可能会用到的词汇。同时强调使用单词的正确形式。(3) 小组合作制作chant, 老师展示自己的chant, 并给小组成员以指导。(4) 完成之后,请小组推选同学上台展示并朗读。Step 5 Progress 播放小视频,让学生了解北极熊的生活现状及所面临的威胁,并让学生从身边的小事做起,节能环保,为爱护动物做出自己的一份贡献。Step 6 Homework1.Sing and dace with the music. (跟着音乐学跳chant)2.Finished your poster and show it in class.(完成海报并向全班展示)3.Collects information about the polar bear and the Arctic.(收集有关北极熊和北极的相关资料,进行了解)
