1、My New TeachersGood morning, dear judges,Im the candidate NO.6 applying for the primary school English teacher. Today my topic is “My New Teachers”.It is my great honor to be here to present my lesson. In order to make it much clear, Ill express my thoughts in the following four aspects, which are t

2、eaching background, assessment of performance, teaching plan and teaching reflection. Now Ill present them just one by one.The first part of my presentation is teaching background. This lesson “My New Teachers” is the third period of unit 1, book 5 in grade 5, PEP. It mainly introduces a dialogue ab

3、out asking teachers physical appearance. Students will deepen their impression of what they have learned last class which is the sentence pattern “he is ”and some adjectives about physical appearance, and can use these knowledge flexibly in their daily life. The students in grade 5 are very active w

4、hose attention can be distracted easily. So in this lesson, Ill present several colorful pictures on teachers with different physical appearances in my teaching process, aiming to attract the students attention. In addition, the students in grade 5 also have a strong desire to show off themselves. T

5、herefore Ill invite them to act as their teachers on the platform.After learning the analysis of students, I set up the following three objectives.First of all, knowledge and skill objectives:1. All the students can read and understand the dialogue.2. 80% students can grasp the sentences: Whos your

6、English teacher? Mr.Carter. Whats he like? Hes tall and strong.3. Know how to pronounce the letters combination ea,ee,bl and br properly.Next, process and method objectives:Students can describe their teachers physical appearance in their daily life through performance.Last, emotion, attitude and va

7、lue objectives:This lesson will help cultivate students awareness of loving and respecting their teachers.Based on the teaching syllabus, I list the teaching key points and difficult points as follow:First are the key points:1. Master the key sentence: Whos your English teacher? Mr.Carter. Whats he

8、like? Hes tall and strong. Know how to write these sentences correctly.2. Can use the sentences to make dialogues in their daily life.Second is the difficult point:1. Know how to pronounce the letters combination “ea,ee,bl, br” properly.What I have said above is the first part of my presentation, na

9、mely teaching background. Next well come to my second part: Assessment of Performance.In the class, Ill mainly adopt formative assessment. Giving timely and effective feedback and evaluation to students performance. Ill organize role-play in my teaching process. For example, Ill invite some shy and

10、quiet students to act as their favorite teacher on the platform. Whatever their performances are, they will be encouraged. If Im satisfied with their performances, Ill reward them a red flower. If students feel a bit difficult in their performances, Ill give them some hints for assist.Ill integrate

11、various assessment methods: mutual rating and teachers assessment, to motivate students learning activity and to create an active class atmosphere.After leaning the assessment of performance, lets come to the third part of my presentation, namely the teaching plan. First are the teaching strategies:

12、In this lesson, Ill mainly adopt Total Physical Response Method, Communicative Method, and Task-Based Method. Attracting students attention to the class as well as arousing their enthusiasm of learning English. I will adopt PWP model to achieve my teaching objectives, designing activities linked wit

13、h one another, for example, students will work in pairs to communicate with each other in my while-reading part, playing train game, listening and drawing and role-play in my post-reading part. Students will accomplish these activities through self-learning. Ill make use of multi-media to reduce str

14、angeness of todays topic: present some pictures of teachers with different physical appearances, accompanying with English recording, and a short video of schools teachers.Based on the teaching strategies above, I divide my teaching process into the following six steps which are lead-in, pre-reading

15、, while-reading, post-reading, summary and homework.Step 1 Lead-in:In this part, Ill adopt game lead-in.At the beginning of the class, 5 students will be invited to the front to play a game of guessing teachers. Ill give them some teachers pictures and imitate three teachers to them one by one, and

16、they will guess which teachers I imitate. Then Ill lead the students in todays dialogue about asking teachers physical appearance.The step of lead-in will attract the students attention to the class quickly as well as connecting their daily life to todays topic “My New Teachers”.Step 2 Pre-reading:B

17、efore students read the dialogue, Ill ask students two questions “Whats your favorite teacher?” “Can you tell me something about him/her?” the students will work in pairs to discuss these two questions. While they are talking, Ill give them some assist if they need.The purpose of this step is to tra

18、in the students ability of listening and speaking.Step 3 While-reading:Firstly, the students will skim the dialogue quickly and fill in the blanks of the following questions independently: “Whos Zhang Pengs English teacher? ” “Whats he like? Hes and . He is very funny.” Some students will be invited

19、 to share his answers and read these sentences to the whole class. They will get a red flower if they performed well and be encouraged if their performances are not so well. Then the students will have a competition between boys and girls to see who writes these sentences most correctly on the black

20、board.Secondly, the students will watch a video of schools teachers. Then the students will work in pairs to practice the conversation and some of them will act to the whole class. Ill give them a piece of bear sticker if they performed well. The less performed groups will also be encouraged and dir

21、ected. For example, Ill correct their wrong pronunciation of “ea,ee,bl, br”.The purpose of this step is to highlight the key points which is grasp the sentences as well as to break through the difficult points, namely solving the students problem of pronouncing the letters combination “ea,ee,bl, br”

22、.Step 4: Post-reading:In order to make the students master the key vocabulary and sentence patterns in this lesson, I design the following 2 activities: Activity 1: train gameA team of students will practice the following sentence patterns each time and they will play four rounds:“Whats he like?He i

23、s ”The way to practice:S1: Whats he like?S2: He is tall. Whats he like?S3: He is strong. Whats he like?Each member of the best team judged by the remaining students in the class will have a gift. And Ill also encourage other teams that performed not so well. This activity will increase the students

24、quick response ability.Activity 2: listening and drawingStudents will work in pairs. One student describes a people, and the other student paints it down on the paper. At last, they will show their pictures to the whole class. The best picture will be rewarded some candies. Other pictures will also

25、be encouraged. This activity will improve the students ability of listening and drawing.In this step, I also design the following taskrole-play to consolidate this lesson.The students can image that they are new students in this school that they dont know anything about their new teachers, so they n

26、eed other students to describe these new teachers to them. They will act as a new student and a classmate, talking something about their new teachers.The students will be divided into six groups. They will share their ideas within their own groups. During that process, Ill walk around the whole clas

27、s and give them guidance timely. After that, each group will choose a representative to perform it on the platform. The remaining students are serving as the judges. The best group will gain a piece of bear sticker. The less performed groups will also be encouraged and inspired.The purpose of this t

28、ask is to improve the students communication and cooperation skills.Step 5 Summary:Students summarize the key sentence they have learned in this lesson. Teacher makes supplements and emphasizes that teachers are our close friends; we should love and respect our teachers.This checks the students weak

29、 points and increases their awareness of loving and respecting their teachers.Step 6 Homework:Students are encouraged to search some information about how to describe their teachers in other ways. They are supposed to share them next class.Giving open homework here is to guide the students to increa

30、se their awareness of loving and respecting their teachers.We have just finished the third part of my presentation, namely teaching plan. Then lets come to the last part-teaching reflection.According to the new curriculum standard, this class adopts formative assessment and various subjects of evalu

31、ation, like teachers assessment and mutual rating to create an active class atmosphere. This class also shows a lot of pictures of teachers with different physical appearances to the students, attracting the students attention to todays topic “My New Teachers”. Lastly, based on the theory of “learning by acting”, the students can deepen their impression of how to describe their teachers through imitating, improving their ability of self-learning.
