2、, namely analysis of the teaching material, analysis of students, teaching methods, learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design. And now Ill explain the analysis of the teaching material first.Part One: Analysis of the Teaching MaterialThis lesson is the first period of Unit 1,New St
3、andard English for Senior Students Book 4, it is a passage about women of achievement, through the reading passage, ss can know the way to describe a person from what the person did, what she/he looks like and so on. The topic is very interesting and worth to think deeply,and during the process, stu
4、dents excellent qualities can be cultivated, it is also helpful to improve their reading ability and thinking ability . Based on the new curriculum standard, I set up three teaching objects as follows: 1. Knowledge objectivesThe knowledge objectives: students master the important words, phrases and
5、sentence structures. Such as achievement, condition, welfare, etc. Practice describing a person, To master the content of the reading passage.2. Ability objectivesThe ability objectives are to improve the students reading ability and develop students communicative ability.3. Emotional objectivesThe
6、emotional objective are to cultivate Ss sense of cooperative learning and to improve ss reading interest.According to the analysis of teaching aims, I should help students master the important points and break through the difficult points as follows:1. 7、g the students reading ability by skimming scanning and intensive reading and getting the students to grasp the new words and phrases.2. 8、 Two: Analysis of the studentsThe students in senior high school are gradually get used to the school life. They are excited to learn in new school and make new friends. But some students are too shy to express themselves in English. Through the study of this lesson, they can grasp the reading strat
9、egies of learning English . Then, they can improve their confidence and interest in English study. Part Three: The Teaching MethodsI will use the following teaching methods to lead the students learn the new lesson: Communicative teaching method,Audio-visual teaching method and Task-based teaching m
10、ethodIn the part of Reading and Vocabulary we can train the students to make a good understanding of the passage gradually by using different learning methods, such as skimming and scanning, working and discussing in groups, free talk, retelling, etc.Part Four: The Learning MethodsStudents will adop
11、t researching learning method together with cooperative learning method in this lesson. 12、e: Teaching ProceduresNow it comes to my most important part-teaching procedures.Step 1 warm up Show some pictures of women for the students to guess who they are and tell whether they are great women or not and give their reasons by discussion in groups.Because the questions are interesting ,studen
13、ts learning enthusiasm can be stimulated , and it can lead the content of the text which talks about a great woman naturally.Step 2 Pre-readingLook at the pictures and title of the passage to predict the content. Then listen to the tape to check if they are right.What I do in this step are helpful f
14、or students learning more about the text and preparing for the passage we will learn in the next step.Step 3 While-reading1. scanning Get the students to comprehend the passage quickly and accurately ,meanwhile help the students to form a good habit of reading. Give the students a couple o f minutes
15、 to look through the whole passage and answer several questions,such as “who is the student, what animals are observed?when did Jane Goodall arrive at Gombe? How old was she? and so on.By doing this activity, the students can improve their reading skillscanning. And they can get the two lines of the
16、 whole passage, the main linestudent, and the hidden linewildlife. It builds a solid base for the latter reading comprehension.2. skimmingThe students are asked to skim the text quickly, summarize the main idea of each paragraph and find out the topic sentence of each paragraph.The purpose of this d
17、esign is to train the skimming ability and thinking abilities of students. 3. Careful-readingThis part will mainly deal with the contents of the text.For paragraph 1: Video watching and completing a diagramGet the students to watch a short video of Janes research with chimps.This paragraph is a desc
18、ription of what Jane and her partners did in the forest. The video can turn the description in words into images. So it seems as if the students themselves went into the forest. Then a diagram will be shown to the students. It contains the main actions of the chimps. They have to complete it. By the
19、se two changes, the students can master the important words, phrases and sentences better.For paragraphs 2-3: Retelling jobThese two paragraphs are relatively long, so the students may have difficulties in classifying the content. Therefore I divided all the sentences into 3 aspects, that is, Janes
20、difficulties, her discoveries and her contributions. According to the key words, they have to retell it.By doing this activity, I can train the students language organizing ability to meet the demands of the new curriculum.For paragraph 4: Question answeringIt is a short summary to Jane and implies
21、that women can do what they want to do as men. This paragraph is relatively short and easy to understand. So the questions are fairly easy and will be offered to the less talented students.Step 4 Post-readingIn this step I design a activity to help the Ss strengthen what they have read and learnt be
22、fore.Activity1. Discussion in groups.Discuss the following questions in groups.1.How can you describe Jane Goodall?2. Jane was brave enough to live in the forest. What difficulties do you think she was facing?3. If you have the chance, will you do what she did?This activity is to cheer the students
23、to think deeply about Janes research and to practice their oral English.Activity2. Debate between girls and boysOrganize a debate between girl group and boy group and the topic is “Women are(not) able to do more than men.”This activity focused on their speaking ability and organization of material.
24、It also can improve their independent thinking ability.Step5: SummarySs summarize what we have learnt. Use the retell skills let Ss retell the general ideas of the passage. Make an assessment on each group. Pick out the best group and then Emphasize the importance of group work and self-learning.Ste
25、p 6 HomeworkHomework is not a repetition of todays lesson. Yet, it is important for the further development of students language ability. So, Id like students to write a composition to introduce a great women who they are familiar with using the new words and phrases that they have learned today.Part Six: Design of the blackboardFinally, I will talk about my blackboard design.
