1、Overall design and guiding principles This is a grammar lesson which aims to develop students ability in using the infinitives to talk about volunteers job and express their will of helping others. Before this lesson, the students ability in listening, speaking and reading about the topic in this un
2、it has been trained to some extent. During that process, the students have already used the infinitives to communicate with each other. Thus in this lesson I mainly employed Task-based Teaching Method and Natural Approach to ask students to complete relevant tasks, assisting them to understand the i
3、nfinitives and review the phrases theyve learned before. Meanwhile their ability in thinking and concluding by themselves is expected to be enriched through the grammar learning, thus forming the habit of active learning and improving their comprehensive language competence. The lesson focuses on revision and talking about helping others, aiming at guiding students master the uses of the important phrases and the infinitives. The topic of this unit is closely related to students real life, and in accord with students cog
5、nitive level, thus it can make students learn meaningfully and build students a confidence of English learning. This lesson mainly consists of warming up, revision, learning the infinitives, verb phrases and doing exercises .The first warming-up part mainly is intended to guide the students to revie
6、w the topic of this unit, talking about offering help. The second fill-in part aims at both revision and the leading-in of learning of the infinitives. The third learning part mainly help the students to understand the infinitives and develop their ability in concluding, which can lay a foundation f
7、or next part. The last part concentrates on consolidating to check whether the students grasp the infinitives. Therefore, the four sections of this lesson, abiding by the “output after input” sequential principle in teaching, progress step by step, and proceed from experience to exploration and fina
8、lly to language application. All these can effectively realize the objectives of improving studentscomprehensive language competence. Analysis of students: The objects of this lesson are students in Grade 8. Students in this phase have already learned some grammar, such as part of speech,sentence co
9、nstituent, and the basic syntax, thus they must have mastered some fixed collocation and fully prepared to learn the lesson cognitively. However, junior students lack the ability of systematic autonomous language learning and some students have no confidence of English learning, especially the gramm
10、ar which is usually boring for the students. Therefore, it requires teachers to set up the tasks from easy to the advanced to guide them. Whats more, junior students tend to focus on image thinking because of the absence of the mature, abstract, and logical thinking, thus teachers should design vari
11、ous interesting, fun and relaxing activities to sustain studentsinterests and attention.
