教学设计教学设计 Unit 3 At the zoo The analysis of the material and students 1) The analysis of the material There are 6 units in this book. The topic of Unit 3 is about animals, which is helpful to raise their learning interest. This lesson is the fifth period of Unit 3. From this lesson, students will learn some words which describe animals. In the first term of Grade 3, Ss learned some words about animals and this is a further study for description. Ss will learn to talk about the appearance of friends in Grade 4 and the characters of their teachers in Grade 5. So this lesson plays a role in consolidation and foundation. Therefore it is an important part of the teaching material. 2) The analysis of students Our students are in Grade 3. They are active, curious, and interested in new things. After learning English for one term, they have some basic English background knowledge, and in last term they learned some words about animals. So the teacher should help them learn the new content by reviews and attach importance to the communication with them, providing them the chances of using language. Teaching Aims II 1) Knowledge aims. a. Students will be able to understand and speak the dialogue. b. Students will be able to understand and speak the key words : short, long, big , small and the sentence patterns: It has . small/big/long/short.and. 2) Ability aims. Students will be able to use the words and sentence patterns to talk about the appearance of animals. 3) Emotion aims. a. Students will be able to increase their interest and set up self- confidence in language study. b. Students will be able to improve their awareness of loving animals. Teaching focus and difficulties 1) Key points Students will be able to understand and speak the key words : short, long, big , small and the sentence patterns: It has . small/big/long/short.and. 2) Difficult points Students will be able to use the words and sentence patterns to talk about the appearance of animals and tell the singular and plural. Teaching procedure Step 1 Warm- up (3minutes) I begin my lesson by singing the song Old machdonald with Ss. Then I chant and doing actions with Ss like this: Be fat,be fat ,be fat,fat,fat. Be thin,be thin ,be thin, thin, thin. Step 2 Presentation (12minutes) 1)Activity 1 Play a magic trick. 2) Activity 2 Look and say Step 3 Practice (12minutes) 1. Mechanical practice Whisper 2. Meaningful practice Listen and choose. IV Lets do Step 4 Production (8minutes) Show ss some more animals and they try to describe them by using the key words.In the process, finding some Ss say, “The rabbit has a ears”, I remind them that we usually say “The rabbit has two ears” Step 5 Homework a) Listen to the tape and read after it for three times. b) Listen and do the actions.
