He was a prolific writer whose other works include science fiction stories, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry, an

16、d non-fiction. Born in Scotland in 1819, Doyle had originally worked as a doctor. But Doyles main ambition was to become a writer of historical novels. Doyle wrote some of his early Holmes stories while he was waiting for patients in his medical practice in London. After Sherlock Holmes made him a h

17、ousehold name, Doyle gave up medicine and devoted himself entirely to writing. But he still longed to become known for his historical novels. Whatever twists and turns you might encounter, take a leaf out of the books of these two authors and be prepared for the unexpected. But man is not made for d
