To study the new words “invent, invention, calculator , be used for, light bulb.” by learning the dialogue of this lesson. 2). To make the students konw how to use the sentences “When was it invented? Who was it invented by? What was it used for?” b. Abillity Objects To develop the Ssabilities of listening ,speaking ,reading and writing by using the sentences “When was it invented? Who was it invented by? What was it used for?” c. Moral Objects To enable the Ss to work with others and help each other. Part II Teaching key points Help the students to understand and use the grammar: the passive voice. Part III Teaching Aids A short movie, some pictures of some inventions, the multi-media computer. Part IV Teaching procedures Step1. Warm-up Show a short movie on the electronic whiteboard, next ask the students what they can see in the movie.(Four ancient inventions), then ask them what they think of the ancient inventions, then lead in the new lesson. Step 2 Presentation 1) show some pictures (car, tv ect) on the electronic whiteboard, then let some guess what order the inventions are. 2) Play guessing games. Show some pairs of inventions on the electronic whiteboard, ask someone to guess the order by playing guessing games. Then check the right order of 1a. Step3 Listening Ask someone to read the dates of 1b, then listen to the tape and check the answers. Step4. Pairwork Show the inventions of 1b, then ask some pairs to make conversations with the following sentences: A: When was A invented? B: I think A was invented in. A: When was B invented? B: I think B was invented in. A: I think A was invented before/after B. Step5. Presentation Show some inventions on the electronic whiteboard, such as light bulb, telephone and so on, then ask Ss whom the inventions were invented by and what they are used for. Step 6. Pairwork Show a chart of some inventions on the electronic whiteboard, then ask some pairs to discuss and make some conversations according to the following sentences. A: When was.invented? B: It was invented in. A: Who was it invented by? B: It was invented by. A: What is it used for? B: It is used for. Step7.Consolidation and Extension First, show some more creative inventions on the electronic whiteboard, then let Ss imagine some useful inventions in daily life and tell the reasons, then ask someone to make a report to the classmates. Step8. Summary Ask someone to repeat what we have learnt about this lesson, then explain some more information to the students about this lesson. Step9.
