A good knowledge of culture plays an important part in language-learning. Teaching difficulties:Students can use the modal verbs to describe the customs .Teaching aids: PPT, videoTeaching periods: The first periodTeaching process:Step 1. Warming-upStudents watch a video and follow the video to sing and dance. This 2video is about the rules.(设计意图:用规则的视频导入课紧扣后面即将学习的内容,另一方面激发学生学习本课的兴趣。)Step 2. Showing the studying aims to the students(1) To review the words and phrases of Module 11.(2) To practise using the modal verbs : can/cant;must/mustnt; need/neednt.(3) To describe(描述) the customs(习俗)with can/cant;must/mustnt.(设计意图:设定了三个教学目标,第一个教学目标是复习第 11 模块的重点单词和短语;其次是练习使用情态动词can/cant;must/mustnt; need/neednt;第三个目标是学生能用这些情态动词去描述习俗。三个教学目标环环相扣,缺一不可,有单词和短语的复习,有情态动词的使用,再到使用这些情态动词来运用英语。复习了第 11 模块的重点内容。)Step 3. PresentationTask 1. Review the wordsTeacher asks two students to choose the right words on the screen.(设计意图:利用希沃 5 里的课堂活动设计单词复习,由两名学生进行 PK,在规定的时间内选出正确的单词,复习了单词的拼写。)Task 2. Giving presents4 Activity 1 Reading comprehensionTraditional presents In the West, people often take flowers when they visit someone. Different flowers have different meanings. For example, people often give red roses to someone they love. In Greece, you must not give white flowers because that means someone is dead. When you go to a foreign country, it is always best to check what people usually do, so you do not make mistakes.1.What presents can people give to western people?2.
