The position of the teaching materialThe content of my lesson is Lesson 17 of Unit 3, Book4, New JuniorEnglish for China, published by Hebei Education Press. The topic of thislesson is Save the Tigers. By studying this lesson, we know that thenumber of

2、the tigers is quickly decreasing in recent years, and the tigershave been in danger, so it is our responsibility to do something to protectthe tigers. Protecting animals is helpful to the environment. Therefore,this lesson is in the important position of protecting the environment.2. Teaching AimsAc

3、cording to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus and afterstudying the teaching material, the teaching aims are as the following:First, Id like to enable the students to master some words andexpressions about tigers and tigers protecting and help them understandthe content of this lesson.Seco

4、nd, Id like to guide the students to analyze the structure of thewhole text, develop their abilities of listening, speaking, reading andwriting , especially their reading ability and set up their effective studyingstrategies by training the Ss abilities of studying by themselves andcooperating.As fo

5、r the moral object, Id like to get the students to be aware ofthe importance of protecting animals, and try to find good ways toprotect animals. Meanwhile, Ill pay more attention to increasing thestudents interest in learning and setting up their self-confidence bycompleting the task.3. The Importan

6、t and Difficult PointsBased on the requirement of the syllabus, the important point thatIm going to deal with is to guide the students to get the structure of thewhole lesson and find some sentences to support the main idea of eachparagraph. As for the difficult point, what Im going to do is to get

7、thestudents to work in groups, flying their imagination and try to find goodways to protect the animals.4. Teaching ProceduresStep1 Pre-reading (Lead-in)Id like to act as a tiger with a picture of “王”on the forehead and getthe students to guess who I am, and tell the students that I used to live aco

8、mfortable life ,but now Im homeless and feel very lonely and have toask for help.The purpose of my lead-in is to attract the students attention forthem to think more about how to save the tiger so as to arouse the Ssinterest in learning.Step2 :While-readingTask 1: SkimmingDoing fast reading is a goo

9、d way to train the students ability ofreading comprehension, so the first thing Id like to do is to ask thestudents to look through the passage and find the main idea of eachparagraph within very short time.Task 2: ScanningIn order to help the students understand the passages better, Id liketo get t

10、he students to read the passages again and find out the sentences tosupport the main idea. “Task-based” teaching method is used here todevelop the Ss ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained.Work in pairs to talk about some questions in different paragraph

11、safter reading the passage.e.g. Questions:1.Whats the number at the beginning of the 20thcentury? Whatabout todays number?2.Why are tigers important to the environment?3. Why are tigers in danger of disappearing?Step3. Post-reading(Discussing)As the students know the whole reading passage, Id like t

12、o get themto work in groups to have a discussion about the ways to protect animalsand then give a report about how we should get on well with animals.After the students discussion, a representative from each group maypresent their report to the class. This is a good way to train the studentsability

13、of team work.Step4. SummaryAt the end of the class, Id like to give a summary that animals areour friends, each of us has the responsibility to protect animals. There issaying “One world, one dream”, but here Id like to say “One world, onehome”. Lets work together to build a beautiful home for the a

14、nimals tocreate a harmonious world.Step5 HomeworkMy homework in this lesson is to get the students to write a reportabout how to protect animals. Homework is important and necessary forthe students to master the knowledge they have learned. Also it is a goodway to cultivate the students comprehensiv

15、e ability.5. Blackboard DesignWhile teaching, I will use a mind map to show the structure of thetext so that the students may get a clue of the text and have a betterunderstanding of the whole text.6. Teaching ReflectionAs a teacher, what I should do in teaching is to act as a guider, anorganizer and a director who play a role to help the students to becomemore independent and successful learners.
