Teaching Material: First, lets focus on the teaching content.What you see now is the content of this lesson. Its the fourth period of Unit 10, Join in , Book 2. There are fourteen pictures in this story. 2. Analysis on studentsSecond, please look at my students.The students are in Grade 5, after learning English for 3 years, they have some basic English background knowledge. Their reading abilities have improved a lot. But they have some difficulties expressing themselves freely without the text.、Teaching aims, important and difficult points1. Knowledge aims: Enable the students to understand the story2Students can read and use these phrases: A week later in the bathroombedroomliving roomkitchen And these sentences: Have a nice holiday!. is washing the dishes. is having a bath. Whos knocking? 2. Skill aims: Ss can listen , read, retell and write the story . To foster Ss consciousness of good-cooperation and proper competition. 3. Students can understand the meaning of the story.The difficult points:1 The pronunciation of “washing the dishes”2 Imitate the characters voice to read the story.3 Retell the story and act out .、 Teaching and learning methodsIn this class, I use“Task-based teaching method”, “Communicative language teaching method” and “TPR teaching method” and so on. I hope to enable students to enjoy the happiness of success by giving them rational evaluation and inspiration. The students will be eager to learn, able to learn and happy to learn.、Teaching Procedure3There are 4 steps in this class.1. Pre reading (about 5 minutes)It costs about 5 minutes.1.Greeting .2.Sing the song “The animals summer party”.3.Free-talk. ( ask the students to talk about their favourite animals.)4.Play a game. (look and say quickly). (Students can review the sentence patterns: “ is watching TV. are playing table tennis.” and so on. Inspire the children to get ready to learn the story.)5.Then I show the picture of a monster, lead to topic “The monster”. (I hope to build up a relaxing, happy learning environment for students, and effectively activate their existing knowledge. The students can have the desire to say something and be ready for the following learning.)2. While-reading(about 18 minutes)4It costs about 18 minutes.Sense the storyTask1 :With the help of the CAI,ask the Ss to watch the video , and finish the first task . 1.How many animals in this story? 2.Who is the monster? Let the students think over and discuss in groups ,then show us. (The purpose of this is to stimulate the Ss interest of the lesson,and to help the Ss understand the story easily and naturally .)Understand the storyTask 2: I ask the students to look at the pictures from1-3 quickly. Whose house is it? Ss can find the answers by themselves.Then I present the new words : bathroombedroomliving roomkitchensweet home (by the pictures and CAI), let the students read the words in groups.(The purpose of this is to help the Ss understand the story easily and be ready for the following learning.)Task3:(A week later ,the mouse and the hamster come home,they are very happy,but what do they see? ) In this step,I ask the Ss to listen and read P4-9 ,think and answer the questions in pairs.The phrase of a week later is not easy to understand,so I design the following step, let me show you. T:Please look ,in the bathroom,a hippo is having a bath.OK,boys and girls ,please listen to the tape and read in pairs.Who can show us? Give them immediate feedbackNow listen ,who is watching TV? Where is it? Lets look. Who can say ?Oh, in 5the bedroom ,a lion is watching TV .Please read in pairs and act.Listen ,who are playing table tennis? A fox and a lion are playing table tennis. Where are they? Yes ,in the living room .Who can show us?Now ,where is our poor rabbit? Lets look, oh, in the kitchen. What is the rabbit doing? The rabbit is washing the dishes. What a poor rabbit!Guide the Ss to retell the story and act the pictures from 4-9 by the blackboard design. ( It is to help Ss to learn this part through a true situation.)Task4:When the big animals break into their home,they are very angry.What can they do? Guide the Ss to think over the ending of the story.Who has got an idea? Whats the idea? Then ask the Ss to listen and read the pictures from10 to14, and discuss in groups and performance this part.(The activity is to develop Ss abilities of communication and cooperation .)Task5:Comment the characters of the story:Who do you like best in the story ? Why?Read the story again and discuss in groups.Then guide the students to express their views, promote the development of language and thought.3. Post-reading(about 14 minutes)(1) Read the story. Ask the Ss to read after the tape, read by themselves, read in groupsroles.(2)Judge the pictures. Ask the Ss to look and judge by themselves, then check in pairs.(3)Act out the story.Ask the Ss to act in groups, then show us .6(4) Complete the passage.Ask the Ss to look and complete by themselves, then check in pairs.(This part will be the highlight of my class.The purpose of this is to deepen the story again.)4. Ending(about 3 minutes)(1)Retell the story in groups.(2)Extend the knowledge. If the bad man break into our home,what can we do?I guide the students to discuss.The students give many answers,such as:Call the police .(3)Homework: Ask the students to retell the story. At last, we choose the winning team!(The purpose of this is to deepen the understanding of the story, and complete the story as a whole feedback.) VI (1) EvaluationTools: Cards. (Shows evaluation Photos)Ways: Self-assessment, group assessment, teacher assessment.Language: Evaluation language and guidance language.(2)Reflection: 1 Develop the students reading skills. 2 Improve the students ability of using language. 3 Achieve the aims.Inadequate: During retelling the story, the students vocabularies and thinking are limited .In the future, on the one hand ,I will train the students spoken English and writing skills ,on the other hand, I will help the students learn more and more words 7by reading.For me, I will try my best to make my class alive and encourage the students to communicate with each other.
