Now, scientific research suggests this ability developed over time as dogs learned to live with humans.Dogs are known in many cultures as mans best friend, and the eyes can be one of the loveliest things about these animals. But a new study found that dogs face developed to present puppy dog eyes as a way to help connect with humans. The study compared the face of dogs and wolves (狼), which share family history. Dogs broke off from wolves after being kept by and living with humans about 33,000 years ago. During that time, dogs changed both in their bodies and actions to fit life with humans. The researchers checked the heads of six dogs and two wolves for comparison. They found the facial parts of both animals were mostly very similar. But one important difference was found above the eyes. The dogs were found to have two well-formed muscles (肌肉) around the eyes that were not presented in the wolves. These small muscles allow dogs to raise their inner eyebrows (眉毛) obviously, the study found.Anne Burrows, a lead researcher on the study, said You dont typically see such muscle differences in species that are so closely connected. The team suggests this eyebrow-raising action causes a caring feeling in humans because it makes the dogs eyes appear larger. This expression also makes the dog look more like a human baby. The eye expression is similar to which humans make when they are sad, the statement said. The researchers suggest that the expression developed over time as a way for dogs to get humans to do things for them. This could include humans giving them food, care or attention. The researchers called the findings significant for showing that these muscles are likely developed to help in their interactions with people. Anne Burrows said in the future the work could also be carried out on other animals with which humans have developed close relationships, including horses and cats.1. It makes dogs look like a human baby who needs care from parents.4. According to Anne Burrows, what would future researches study about?A. How other animals develop interactions with people.B. Animals that are classified as endangered are at risk of becoming extinct. Animals become extinct for a variety of reasons. Some of the ways that animals become extinct are described below. Over the course of history many species have become extinct. (5) _ Species may become extinct because of changes in climate, competition with other species, a reduced food supply, or a combination of these things. (6) _ Human interaction has increased the rate of extinctions beyond what normally should occur in nature. More extinctions reduce the variety of plants and animals and can have harmful effects on all life on Earth. (7) _ In addition to being killed for food, animals are often hunted for specific body parts. For example, in Africa, the elephant is heavily hunted for its tusks. The population has gone from many millions to just a few hundred thousand. Today the elephant is protected, but the population continues to drop in some areas. (8) _ This comes from the expansion of humans, especially from farming. As more land area is used to grow food, natural habitats are destroyed. This can destroy many of the cycles of life necessary for creatures to survive. (9) _ This is especially true in freshwater environments such as rivers and lakes. Dirty water from factories can poison the water. When one species is affected, other species can die off as well, causing a series of reactions. A. Many species have been hunted to extinction or to the point where they are seriously endangered.B. This is part of the natural process.C. An animal species that is newly brought into an area may also cause many other species to suffer.D. Today many animals are endangered or have become extinct due to the influence of humans.E. Loss of habitat is also one of the main threats to animals today.F. Perhaps the most famous of these was the extinction of the dinosaurs.G. Pollution from humans can kill off a species as well.语言知识运用模块语言知识运用模块一、填空题。根据括号中的中文释义,用本单元出现的单词的正确形式完成句一、填空题。根据括号中的中文释义,用本单元出现的单词的正确形式完成句子。子。10. A large group of people enjoy seeing animals like elephants and tigers perform. However, others, especially animal rights campaigners, have repeatedly complained that the shows should be stopped. As for me, I totally agree that the animal shows should be banned for the following reasons.First of all, when animals are in circuses, they are forced to learn tricks in order to entertain humans. Training them for those tricks almost always involves using whips, sticks, food deprivation, and other cruel means, which severely hurts the animals, both physically and psychologically. Secondly, all lives are equal and deserve respect. We have no right to take away the freedom from animals and force them to do things simply for our entertainment. Finally, there are many other ways for kids to learn about animals, such as visiting wildlife parks, or reading books. Therefore, in my opinion, where there are animal performances, there is pain, and it is time to put a stop to it.
