1、Good morning! Judges! Im the NO.xx candidate applying for middle school English teacher. Today my topic is “wheres the post office?”Its my great honor to stand here to present my lesson. Now, Im going to begin my presentation with four aspects: teaching background, the assessment of performance, tea

2、ching plan and teaching reflection.First, Ill introduce the first part teaching background.The lesson of wheres the post office? is the first period of unit 2 book 2 in grade 7, PEP. It is mainly about how to ask directions and give directions on the street. According to the picture-learning, Ss can

3、 easily grasp the new words and phrases of location and know how to ask and answer the location of place in their daily life.When considering the students situation of grade 7. They have already known some basic English words and expressions. During the teaching process, the most important thing is

4、to inspire their interest of study. So Ill design something interesting to attract their attention to make them learn quickly.After analyzing the Ss situation, I set up three teaching objectives.1. Knowledge and skills objectives. I set two goals:a. 90% of the Ss can grasp the new words and phrases

5、about locationb. 80% of the Ss can master the sentence pattern about asking location “where is the? Is there a?” “there be” in their daily life.2. Process and method objectiveDuring the learning process, the Ss are able to improve their ability of describing location.3. Emotion, attitude and value o

6、bjectiveThis lesson will help the Ss improve their ability of logic thinking and expression. Learn asking for help politely. And always get ready to help othersAccording to the above analyzes on students and objectives. The teaching key points and difficult points can be listed as follows: The key p

7、oints are helping the Ss memorize the key vocabulary, understand how to ask directions and give directions on the street. The difficult points are to help the students to describe some place using appropriate preposition.Then the second part: the assessment of performance In my teaching process, Ill

8、 focus on formative appraisal. For example, in class, Ill draw a simple map to them and ask them to describe the location of some place. Due to the different levels of students, Ill invite the Ss who are relatively weak in foundation to answer easy question. If their answers are right, Ill reward th

9、em some pencils. If they have trouble in responding, Ill invite other students to help them or give them some tips. Whatever their answers are they will be encouraged and praised. In the whole teaching process, Ill integrate various assessment methods: mutual rating and teachers assessment to motiva

10、te Ss learning activity and create a harmonious class atmosphere.The third part is teaching plan, first is my teaching strategy. As we all known that, a good teaching method requires that the teacher should help Ss develop their ability of learning. For achieving this goal, I will mainly adopt commu

11、nication, and solving task methods in this lesson. Three activities will be designed:1. Communication. Teacher asks the place using the hang picture. 2. Teacher invites some students to draw the route to place.3. Ss learn to describe the route to place.Every student has chance to join in the activit

12、ies. And the activity will be set from easy to difficult level, appropriate students will be chosen to deal with them, making sure everyone would gain confidence. No matter good or bad of their performances, the Ss will be encouraged.Thats all of my teaching strategy. Based on it, my teaching proced

13、ures will be divided into 6 steps.Step one: lead inAt the beginning of the class, Ill ask the student some questions, such as, “If you want to borrow some books, where should we go? Where is it?” Ss may try their best to describe it to me. Then I will introduce todays topic helping them to know how

14、to describe a location.Step two: presentation Firstly, teacher show a hang picture to Ss asking them what the name of the places in the picture is. Then I will direct them to match the words with the places in the picture. During the learning process, the students will grasp the new words quickly an

15、d have a better understanding of where the places are. Next, Ill ask some questions about “how to get there or where is it” and invite some students to come to the front to draw the route. The student who did well will be reward some pencils and those who did not well will be encouraged. In this way

16、, the Ss will be more active in their study and their logic thinking skills will be increased as well. Lastly, Ill invite some students to describe the route which drew by the former student. In this process, Ill encourage them to try their best and give them some guidance. Then Ill ask again “where

17、 is it?” they will replay to me the right answer. The way of ask and answer can help the Ss to memorize the way of describing the direction and they may grasp how to use the appropriate preposition in expressing.Step three: practiceIn order to help the student to strengthen the new knowledge, Ill de

18、sign the following two tasks.Task 1: Come over, Ill design a situation that a student want to invite friends to come to his house to play. So he should describe the route and draw a simple map marking some landmarks to his friends. The Ss who did well will be reward a notebook. If failed, he or she

19、would be encouraged to give us a performance. The purpose of this task is aiming to develop Ss sense of direction and logic thinking skill.Task 2: The maps gone. The task is related to task 1, the friends who are invited lost their map, so they should ask the way to the destination. Ill choose some

20、students to act passers-by. During the process of achieving this task, Ss can have a better understanding of how to ask direction and how to describe a direction. Their logic thinking skill and expression skill will be enhanced.Next, step four: consolidationIn this step, Ill encourage Ss to work in

21、groups to describe a familiar place. The rest of students will guess what it is. During the guessing process, Ss can ask questions but the answer is only Yes or No. Ill give them 5 min to think it over, Ss will discuss and exchange their ideas within their own groups. During that process, Ill walk a

22、round the whole class and direct them timely. The best group will gain notebooks. The purpose of this activity is to cultivate Ss cooperative ability.Step five: summaryAfter class, Ss should master the new words, get to know how to use preposition when describing a location and apply the sentence pa

23、ttern to life.Teacher makes supplements and emphasized the difficult points. Ill encourage students to Learn ask for help politely. And always get ready to help others. Step six: homeworkIll remind Ss to learn to describe the location in their daily life, for example, the building our school, they c

24、an tell me in the next class.The last part of my presentation is teaching reflection.This lesson mainly adopts the method of solving task and communication. During the task doing, Ss study interest was inspired and their comprehensive ability has been promoted. They learned new words and sentences actively, not mechanically. And the students had a happy learning atmosphere.
