1、Unit 5 Theme Parks(The first period)Good morning, judges. I am the No.3 candidate applying for senior high school English teacher. Its my great honor to have this opportunity to share my teaching plan with you. Today my topic is theme parks, Im going to talk about it from 6 aspects, namely analysis

2、of the teaching material, analysis of students, teaching methods, learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design. And now Ill explain the analysis of the teaching material first.Part One: Analysis of the Teaching MaterialThis lesson is the first period of Unit 5,New Standard English for

3、 Senior Students Book 4, it is a passage about theme parks, through the reading passage, Ss can know some information about parks and theme parks, and get to know that theme parks can offer us not only amusement, but also kinds of knowledge and exciting experiences. The topic is very interesting and

4、 worth to think deeply, it is helpful to improve their reading ability and thinking ability . Based on the new curriculum standard, I set up three teaching objects as follows: 1. Knowledge objectivesThe knowledge objectives: students master the important words, phrases and sentence structures. Such

5、as various, cartoons, whichever, be famous for etc. To master the content of the reading passage.2. Ability objectivesThe ability objectives are to improve the students reading ability and develop students communicative ability.3. Emotional objectivesThe emotional objectives are to cultivate Ss sens

6、e of cooperative learning and to improve ss reading interest.According to the analysis of teaching aims, I should help students master the important points and break through the difficult points as follows:1. Key points:Teaching important point is improving the students reading ability by skimming s

7、canning and intensive reading and getting the students to grasp the new words and phrases.2. Difficult points:Teaching difficult point is to get the main idea and the key words of each paragraph as quickly as possible and improve their reading ability.Part Two: Analysis of the studentsThe students i

8、n senior high school are gradually get used to the school life. They are excited to learn in new school and make new friends. But some students are too shy to express themselves in English. Through the study of this lesson, they can grasp the reading strategies of learning English . Then, they can i

9、mprove their confidence and interest in English study. Part Three: The Teaching MethodsI will use the following teaching methods to lead the students learn the new lesson: Communicative teaching method,Audio-visual teaching method and Task-based teaching methodIn the part of Reading and Vocabulary w

10、e can train the students to make a good understanding of the passage gradually by using different learning methods, such as skimming and scanning, working and discussing in groups, free talk, retelling, etc.Part Four: The Learning MethodsStudents will adopt researching learning method together with

11、cooperative learning method in this lesson. The learning Methods of this class include pair work, group work, individual work and discussion, speaking, and writing.Teaching AidsMulti-media computer, tape recorder, PPT will be needed in this lesson.Part Five: Teaching ProceduresNow it comes to my mos

12、t important part-teaching procedures.Step 1 warm up Show some pictures of the theme parks and other kinds of parks. Ask Students to answer these questions “What is a park? What is a park for? Do you know the differences between a theme park and an ordinary park?” according to the pictures.Give the s

13、tudents several minutes to discuss then ask 2-3 students to state their ideas.Because the questions are interesting ,students learning enthusiasm can be stimulated , and it can lead the content of the text which talks about theme parks naturally.Step 2 Pre-readingLook at the pictures and title of th

14、e passage to predict the content. Then listen to the tape to check if they are right.What I do in this step are helpful for students learning more about the text and preparing for the passage we will learn in the next step.Step 3 While-reading1. skimmingTo get the students to read the passage quickl

15、y and accurately ,meanwhile help the students to form a good habit of reading. Give the students a couple o f minutes to look through the whole passage and answer several questions,such as “Which theme parks are mentioned in the passage? Where do you think you would see this kind of writing?”and so

16、on.By doing this activity, the students can improve their reading skillscanning. And their ability of searching information can be strengthened. Besides , this step builds a solid base for the latter reading comprehension.2. scanningThe students are asked to scan the text quickly, summarize the main

17、 idea of each paragraph and find out the topic sentence of each paragraph.The purpose of this design is to train the scaning ability and thinking abilities of students. 3. Careful-readingThis part will mainly deal with the contents of the text.Task 1: Let the Ss read the text again and then try to g

18、uess the meaning of the new words and phrases, Such as various, cartoons, whichever, be famous for etc.on the blackboard. I will explain the complex words, phrases and sentences.Task 2:students Read the text carefully ,divide the whole passage into several parts, and sum up the general idea of each

19、part.Task 3 Find out the information of the three theme parks. finish the practice 1 and 2.The goal is to let Ss get further understanding of the article and check their reading results and the deployment of the reading strategies. Step 4 Post-readingIn this step I design a activity to help the Ss s

20、trengthen what they have read and learnt before.Activity1. Work in pair.In pairs make up a dialogue about the theme parks, using the expressions of the passage.Ss can practice their listening and speaking ability through the activity.Activity2. Discussion in groups. Discuss the question in practice

21、4, page 35, such as “whats the purpose of Dolly land, which kind of people do you think will visit the theme park”.And every group put forward their ideas and reasons to the class.This activity focused on their speaking ability and organization of material. It also check whether the Ss grasp the mai

22、n idea of the text.Step5: SummarySs summarize what we have learnt. Use the retell skills let Ss retell the general ideas of the passage. Make an assessment on each group. Pick out the best group and then Emphasize the importance of group work and self-learning.Step 6 HomeworkHomework is not a repeti

23、tion of todays lesson. Yet, it is important for the further development of students language ability. So, Id like students to write a composition to introduce a theme park they are familiar with using the new words and phrases that they have learned today.Part Six: Design of the blackboardFinally, I will talk about my blackboard design.
