1、英语阅读语篇教学设计-The Best Medicine 主题语境:“人与自我” 语篇类型:记叙文(narration) 授课时时长:一 课时(45 分钟) 一 、教材分析:本板块课文的语篇类型为记叙文,讲述了一位小丑医生通过变 魔术、唱歌、讲故事、讲笑话等方式辅佐专业医生治疗,减轻病人痛苦的故事。 学生在阅读课文的同时可以增长知识,丰富生活经验,并体会到拥有“助人度 己”的积极生活态度的重要性。读前的导入活动请学生看一张今年网络上特别 火的照片,照片中一名医生陪伴躺在病床上的病人看夕阳,网友亲切地称其为 “夕阳老人”,问学生看到了什么?为什么医生要这样做?从而和学生分享特 鲁多医生的名言,也

2、是今年疫情期间不断被大家提起的话“有时去治愈;常常 去帮助; 总是去安慰” 。 或许, 安慰也是一剂良药, 从而导入本文的话题-The Best Medicine。读中活动首先基于主题和文本结构;然后依据文本提到的关于小丑 医生的相关方面进行阅读理解和文本分析。读后活动让学生进行小丑医生的演 讲并思考小丑医生和医生之间的异同点,以及自己对这份职业的看法,运用所 学语言进行创作和创新,帮助学生深入理解课文信息,探究主题意义,同时培 养学生的逻辑思维和批判性思维,引导学生建构多元文化视角。 二、学情分析 本节课的阅读内容适用于高二年级,有了一定的英语基础,但受词汇量和 阅读能力的限制,多数学生属于

3、中等的水平。这些学生学习热情很高,刻苦积 极,但学生阅读能力有限。整体看来,学生们能有用英语提取信息,处理信息 并简单的表达自己的观点。 三、教学目标 1引导学生了解小丑医生的工作方式。 2. 引导学生对比小丑医生和医生之间的异同点。 3引导学生体会“笑是最好的良药”的深刻含义。 4. 引导学生形成自己对“小丑医生”这个职业的观点和看法。 四、教学重点: 小丑医生的工作职责有哪些?小丑医生工作的意义存在于 哪些方面?文本的叙述特点是什么?如何理解“The Best Medicine”的含义? Step1.Starting out Ss look at a picture to think ov

4、er the question What is important for a patient to recover? 2.Ss learn the quotes from Doctor Trudeau and realize the importance of comforting and laughter Step 2. Read for main idea Read the whole passage quickly and think over the meaning of “The Best Medicine” and find out what aspects have been

5、mentioned in the passage. Tip1: Learn to use mind map to analyze the structure clearly. Step 3. Read for details P1-Read Para 1 carefully and answer the two questions: 1 What does the clown doctor wear? 2 What is the clown doctors working environment like? After Ss answer the questions , the teacher

6、 lead Ss to pay attention to the key wordsboredom and tension and analyze the supporting sentences and the language. Meanwhile, teachers write down the key words on the blackboard Step 4. Read for detailsP3&4-Ss go on reading P3&4 and answer the following questions. What are the reasons for Larrys b

7、eing a clown doctor? What are the responsibilities of a clown doctor? Teacher write down the feeling of Larry when he was a Kid and lead Ss to focus on two sentences. We do this by doing magic tricks. What does “this” refer to? What should they pay special attention to? We have to be very sensitive

8、and work closely with the doctors and nurses, who keep us updated on each patient. And then paraphrase the sentence, leading to a deeper understanding of the professional spirit of clown doctors, who are understanding and considerate. Step 5 Read for details P2&5-Ss read two parts about the patient

9、Lara and answer the questions. 1 What happened to Lara? 2 How did I help her? What was the result? Teacher leads Ss to compare the change Lara and her parents have step by step and have a deeper understanding of clown doctors. And teacher writes down the change on the blackboard, making the change o

10、n the patient very clear to see. Why does the author mentions the girl Lara? Tip3: Examples can make our story more convincing and believable. Step 6 Read for details P6-What are Larrys feeling after a whole days work? What is his hope? Ss answer the two questions and Teacher write down his feeling

11、of being happy and satisfied and the hope that to make the hospital a friendlier place on the blackboard and compare the change, thus leading to a deeper understanding of the clown doctors. Step 7 Make a presentation Ss make a presentation to introduce the story of doctor Larry, following the differ

12、ent aspects of the clown doctors. Hello, everyone! Im Doctor Larry Laugh-Out-Loud and today I want to share my story with you. Step 8 Think and share. Ss compare the differences and similarities of clown doctors and doctors, thus have a clearer and deeper understanding of the work of clown doctors a

13、nd realize the importance of mental power in recovering process. it shows the development of society and humanitarian care to the patients. Ss have a discussion about the question and voice their attitudes towards the question: Would you like to work as a clown doctor? Why or why not? Assignment: Polish the speech for Doctor Larry and share your understanding of “Laughter is the best medicine” with your classmates.
