Whats the owners attitude towards Henry now? 3. What makes people in the store change their attitudes towards Henry? They change their attitudes after seeing the million-pound note because they think that he is rich. Read Part 3 and answer the questions. Perhaps he thinks that Henry will come back and buy a lot more clothes in the future or tell his wealthy friends about the shop. He served him in an extremely polite and flattered manner and even allowed Henry to pay the bill after a long time. Group Discussion Is it right to judge people by their clothes? Why or why not? No, its not right, for two reasons. First, everyone has dignity and should be treated with the same respect. Second, you cannot judge someone before you know all the facts about this person. Dressing well or having a lot of money doesnt mean someone is a nice person. Sometimes appearances are deceptive. Possible answer: Study language features Structure Analysis 1. The languages should be clearly stated. 2. What does your story want to tell us? 3. Is there any conflict and climax designed in your plot? 4. Is the characters personality well showed in his stage directions and lines? Discuss with your partner how to write each element. Tips Use what you have learnt to write a new scene for the play where Henry will try to use the bank note. A restaurant? A hotel? A company? A party? With no money to pay at once The owner looked down upon Be considered as a liar Work in groups. Brainstorm a place that Henry will go to, and what difficulties he might face. Group work In your group: A.Make a list of the characters B.Make an outline of the events in the scene C.Decide how the characters feelings change during the scene D.Think of an exciting ending E.Write the dialogue F.Write the stage directions which tell the actors what to do or how to say something Group work 3. In your group, use this checklist to help you revise the draft. Are all the elements of a play included and in good order? Do the characters use suitable language? Are the stage directions clear and useful? Is the plot clear and exciting enough? Are there any grammar, spelling or punctuation errors? 4. Get your draft back and revise it. Perform your scene before the class. When writing a dramatic scene, we should: 1. Include the six elements of a screenplay: title of play; narration; character names; lines of language; stage directions; scene; 2. Keep the following in mind: A: The languages should be clearly stated. B: What your story want to tell us? C: Is there any conflict and climax designed in your plot?
