T asks Ss to go through the excerpt from the film script quickly and answer the following questions: What is a film script? T: The screenplay is the blueprint for a film. It is the guide for t
6、he producers, director, actors and crew of exactly what will appear on the screen. It is the common ground that everybody will work with from start to finish of production. What can be seen in a film script? T: A film script tells the whole story, contains all action in the film and all dialogue for
7、 each character. It can also describe characters visually so film-makers can try to capture their style or looks. It usually includes scene headings, character headings, dialogues, and actions. The scene heading introduces the time and the location of the scene. The character heading should always b
8、e capitalized and shows who is speaking. The dialogue is what the characters say in the film. It reveals the characters personalities, feelings and emotional states. The action describes in detail what is happening. What is voice-over? T: Voice-over refers to the lines in a film that are spoken by a
9、 person not seen on the screen. It means you can hear someones voice without seeing him or her. It is usually narration, but can also be a characters internal monologue. In the excerpt of our textbook, the grown-up Forrest is remembering a story from his childhood. 2. Find key elements. T asks Ss to

20、st to protect and encourage him. She tells him that only those who do stupid things are stupid and he is not. Besides, “peas and carrots” is an American idiom, which means keeping each 6 others company often as peas and carrots are commonly used together to decorate dishes in America. 2.
