Section B1 (1a1d) Teaching plan Teaching aims: Through this class, teacher will teach students how to improve listening by using present perfect tense which is one of the most important tenses students should master in junior high school. Secondly, teacher

2、will teach students how to describe our own hometown and be able to introduce it to others. The most important skill of this class is to drive students to show their deep love for our hometown Shantou by using present perfect tense. Learning goals: 1. Learn to improve listening with “done” structure

3、. 2. Be able to talk about our hometown and introduce it to others. Teaching Procedure: Step 1: Lead-in In Step 1, teacher will lead in the topic of this class. Topic: The family of Peppa Pig, which has become a famous cartoon character in recent years, are planning to travel somewhere during the su

4、mmer vacation. Though Daddy Pig has made two choices, he is so confused about where to go, so he is asking the students for some suggestions. In this class, students will give their opinions on where to travel. 1. Revision of Unit 9 In this step, Daddy Pig has the first choice - Singapore. Teacher w

5、ill ask students to give some information to Daddy Pig. Since students have learned some information about Singapore, teacher will ask students to introduce Singapore by giving them some tips such as location, temperature, language, food and places of interest. 2. Expand In this step, Daddy Pig give

6、s his second choice - Beijing. Based on the last step, teacher will also ask students to give some information to Daddy Pig by offering them some tips like location, temperature, language, food and places of interest. The different part from the introduction of Singapore is that teacher will ask stu

7、dents to talk about some culture and activities about Beijing, which will make students more lively in class and stimulate their thinking. (Teaching aim: As a warm-up activity and a lead-in, ) Step 2: Listening practice (Materials from Section B 1b) As a transition, teacher will give a conversation

8、between Daddy Pig and Peppa Pig which has been recorded by two students before. It shows that Daddy Pig is so confused about which decision to make so he decides to watch TV to relax first. Therefore, teacher will lead to the listening practice in 1b, Section B. In the listening, students will be as

9、ked three questions as followed: Does Martin like Jennys hometown? Does Jenny still live in her hometown? What is behind the science museum? What do people do there on weekends? After finding out the answers to the three questions above, students will be asked to finish the task in 1c by listening t

10、o the tape again. After students finish two listening tasks, teacher will come to an conclusion: Jennys hometown has changed a lot! So has our hometown! (Teaching aim: Teach students to improve listening skills and lead to the next step -introducing our own hometown to Daddy Pig.) Step 3: Introducti

11、on of our hometown 1. Students will enjoy a video about how our own hometown Shantou has changed in recent years. 2. Free talk Students will be given several minutes to talk about the following questions they like. In this part, teacher will invite some students to talk about their own opinions. Do

12、you love our hometown? How long have you been in Shantou? (Teaching aim: Consolidate the sentence structure : Ive been here for years / since ) What are some of the special places here? (Teaching aim: to show some pictures about the special places of Shantou, which will give students some materials

13、to express in the next step) What are some culture and activities here? (Teaching aim: to show some pictures about the typical culture and activities of Shantou, which will give students some materials to express in the next step) 3. Pair work In this step, students will be given two minutes to talk

14、 with their partners. Do as follows: Ask your partner how long he / she has been in Shantou Make a simple introduction about Shantou (location, weather, food, places of interest, culture and activities, etc. ) Talk about whether Shantou is important to you and why. 4. Make a report. Based on the las

15、t two steps, students will be asked to make a oral report to introduce Shantou. Teacher will give students a pattern to follow. (Teaching aim: Let students practice their spoken English.) 5. Fill in the blanks in a complete passage. As a ending and conclusion, teacher will show students a passage ab

16、out the introduction of Shantou and ask students to fill in the missing words in it. The passage concludes almost every part of introduction of Shantou. (Teaching aim: Teach students to form a passage concept.) Step 4: Summary and homework As the last part, teacher will give students an assignment t

17、oday which is to write a formal invitation letter to Daddy Pig and invite his whole family to come to visit Shantou. As the writing clues, teacher will summarize the writing points on the blackboard, such as location, temperature, food, language, places of interest and culture activities. (Teaching aim: Help students review what we have learned in this class and keep the introduction about our hometown in mind.)
