Teaching Duration: 45 mins Teaching Procedures: Step 1: Lead-in Show a short video of a famous fairy tale. T: Yes, this is a short video of “Snow White”. Its a famous fairy tale. Yeah , you know it means 童话故事。 Then show the explanation of “fairy tale” on the screen and ask Ss to read together. Step 2: Expansion Ask Ss to say out the names of the three fairy tales in English. (Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella) Then tell Ss that these stories are all written by the brothers Grimm. And show a picture about the writers. Step 3: Topic Introducing Show Ss the pictures of “Hansel and Gretel” and ask them to guess the name of the story. Most of them may not know it. So the T can say, “This class we will learn another story of the brothers Grimm. Its “ Hansel and Gretel”. And it has another name “糖果屋”. Then, show the main content of the story in Chinese to let Ss get familiar to the story. ( The background of the story) Step4: Reading Task 1: Skimming Reading Ask Ss to look through the play and try to answer the question below: What kind of text is it, a letter, a play or a short story?
