1 Unit 6 Meet my family I.The analysis of the teaching contents This class mainly talks about the topic of the family. It includes some new words and sentences about the family, which is related to our daily life .So its very easy to create some contexts to let the students learn the knowledge easily. This part is the fifth period of this unit. Itll be helpful to make students learn this class, because some students have foundations of this unit . II. The analysis of the students The students in Grade four have learned English for about two years so far. They are active and lovely. They can understand some words and some simple sentences. They have strong interest and confidence in studying English now. They also form the habit of previewing the course, so it will be helpful for our class. III. Teaching objectives 1. Knowledge aims a. Students will be able to review the words about the calling of their family members and their jobs, such as parents ,uncle ,aunt ,cousin and driver, farmer, nurse, doctor and so on . b. Students will be able to know the information about Johns family members. 2. Ability aims Students can realize how to introduce their family members to others using such information as :people ,job and character in the real situations. 2 3.Emotional aims Students will be able to realize that the importance of family and love their family more after class. IV. Teaching key points a. The students will be capable of comprehending the new vocabularies and sentences to introduce their family members. b. The students will be able to understand how to use the sentences to ask and answer the information about their family members. V.Teaching difficult points Students will be able to introduce their own family members to other students after class according to what they have learnt in this class. VI.Teaching methods Total Physical Response, Task-based teaching method, Communicative approach, Situational approach, Pair work or individual work. VII.Teaching time: 40 minutes VIII. Teaching aids: CAI, a tape recorder, flashcards, IX.Teaching procedures Step1. Warm up 1. Greeting and free talk 2. sing a song: I love my family Step2. Pre-reading Have students watch a short video of teachers own family and introduce teachers family members to students to help students review what they have learnt before. And then 3 make a free talk with students to ask some information about their family members. Step3.While-reading students know teachers family and teacher knows studentss family .This class teacher has a good friend and this friend also wants to show his own family to all of the students. 1. skimming Have students listen and look at the picture carefully and find the answer to Which family is this . 2.scanning First reading :teacher asks boys to read the text one by one and then finish two questions such as :How many people are there in Johns family? And Who are they? Second reading:teacher asks girls to read the text and then all students should match the people with jobs . Third reading :teacher asks one student to read the whole text to students and then all of the students fill in the blanks . Step4. Post-reading 1. Lets read the text together. 2. Lets retell the text . 3. Teacher shows other students family members to students and asks students to choose the right family member. 4. Write down your own family. 5.Lets think. Have students watch a short video of a family and think about how to form our family. 4 Step5.Sum-up Have students sum up what they have learnt this class.
