Ss can finish the writing part in “Write and say”. 3.Emotional objectives Ss are able to know more about their friends and do more exercises. Difficult points: Write what they can and cant do. speak + a language Teaching Methods Total physical response method. Audio lingual approach. Task-based method. Teaching Aids Pictures, videos, ping-pong bats, PPT. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Warm up 1. Sing a song. What can you do? 2. Free talk. Show some pictures. T: What can you do? S1: I can dance. S2: I can . . Step 2 Presentation 1. Show a bulletin board. There are some posters on it. The swimming club, ping-pong club, basketball club and English club are enrolling new members. T: Do you want to join them? Lets go to see what abilities we need. 2. Show pictures of people who are swimming and cooking. Spell the phonetic symbols to teach swim and cook. Ask Ss to read the words one by one. Play a video of the movie “Frozen”. T: What can they do? Ss: English. Teach “speak English”. Play a sound of a ping-pong competition. Ask Ss to guess. Then show the picture. Pass the ping-pong bat and read the words. Show a picture of a basketball competition. Teach “play basketball”. 3. Ask Ss to read the words and phrases. Memorize the pronunciation and meaning of each word in two minutes. Do VS Say. T: I say, you do. I do, you say. Play a guessing game. T: Guess the words according to the pictures and sounds. Ask Ss to say the words and check together. 4. Play a video of a swimming competition. T: Who is he? S1: He is Sun Yang. T: What can he do? S2: He can swim. T: Can you swim? Ss: Yes./ No. Lead in the key sentences. Can you .? Yes,I can./No,I cant. Show the pictures one by one. Practice the sentences in groups and in pairs. Work in pairs. Ask and answer each other. Role-play. Ask several groups to act out their own conversations. Step 3 Consolidation 1.Write & say Listen to the recording of this part. Then write what Sarah can and cant do according to the sentences below. Check the answers. 2.Make a survey. Ask if your friends can do somethings.Fill in the table. Then make a report. Step 4 Summary Ask all the Ss to read the key sentences together. Step 5 Homework 1.Copy the words and sentences. 2.Ask your friends what they can do in English.
