5、 he is, he knows a lot about English literature.2. 表示独一无二的头衔、职位等的名词作表语或补足语时,常省略冠词。e.g. She was appointed director of the commercial organisation.(二)介词的省略e.g. 1.The big fire lasted (for) several hours. 2. have difficulty (in) doing spend/waste time (in) doing There is no point/sense (in) doing be occ

6、upied (in) doing stop/prevent/keep/discourage sb (from) doing2、 句法中省略:(1) 并列句中的省略e.g.1. Tom picked up the book on the floor and (Tom) handed it to his teacher. 2. He has a knowledge of first aid but his friend doesnt (have a knowledge of first aid). 3. He was late because he had overslept and (becau

7、se he had) missed the train.(二)状语从句中的省略1. 在when, while, whenever, until if, unless等引导的状语从句中,若从句的主语与主句主语一致(或者从句主语是it),且从句谓语含有be动词,可以省略从句的主语和be 动词。2. 虚拟条件中有were, had, should,常省略if, 并将were, had, should提前构成部分倒装。e.g. 1). When (she was) asked to answer the question, she didnt know what to say.2). Were I y

8、ou, I would study hard.(三)定语从句与名词性从句中的省略(1)在限制性定语从句中,作宾语用的关系代词whom,who, which,that可省略e.g. He is the man (who/whom/that) you can depend on .(2)动词后所接的宾语从句中,连接词that可以省略;若带有多个宾语从句,只有第一个that可以省略,其余的则不能省略。(3)在与 suggest(建议), request, order,advise, recommend等词相关的名词性从句中,应用虚拟语气,即从句谓语用 “ should+do”, should可以省略

9、。(四)动词不定式的省略1. want, wish, expect, hope, try, forget,would like等后面出现与上文相同的不定式时,常保留不定式符号to,而省略后面的内容。误区警示当省略的不定式内含有作助动词用的have或be的任何形式时,to后要保留原形have或be。e.g. -Arent you the headmaster?-No, and I dont want to be.2. 两个或两个以上的不定式表示并列关系时,第一个带to,后面的省略to;但如果两个不定式表示对比关系,则to不可省略。e.g. He didnt tell me whether to

10、go on or to stop.3. 感官动词see, look at, hear, listen to, notice, watch等和使役动词make, let, have等后面作宾补的不定式要省略to,但 此类动词的被动语态中的to不可省略。4. 介词but前有实义动词do的某种形式,后面的不定式要省略to。 但是固定搭配:can not (help/choose) but do 除外。5. 当what 引导的名词性从句作主语,或all,everything等后接定语从句做主语,且从句谓语部分含有动词do的某种形式时,作表语的动词不定式中的to 可以省略也可以保留。Step 3 Sum
