Everyone is born with the ability to learn.每个人天生具有学习的能力。(1) be born with 意为“生而具有;生就”e.g. He was born with a good memory.(2) ability 意为“能力;才能”。常用短语: the ability to do

7、 sth. 意为“做某事的能力”;have ability in doing sth. 意为“有能力做某事”。e.g. He has the ability to speak Chinese fluently.2. But whether or not you can do this well depend on your learning habits.但是你是否能学好取决于你的学习习惯。(1) whether or not 意为“是否”,whether引导主语从句,不能与if替换。(2) depend on 意为“视而定;取决于;依靠”,后加名词、代词或动名词,不能用于进行时态和被动语态。

Research shows that successful learners have some good habits in common. 研究表明,成功的学习者有一些共同的好习惯。 have sth. in common (with sb./ sth.) 意为“与某人、某物有相同之处”。e.g. Their methods have a lot in common.4. Studies show that if you are interested in something, your

9、 brain is more active and it is alsoeasier for you to pay attention to it for a long time. 研究表明,如果你对某事感兴趣,你的大脑就会更活跃,你也更容易长时间关注它。be interested in 意为“对很感兴趣”,相当于take an interest ine.g. Are you interested in learning English?5. Good learners often connects what they need to learn with something interest

10、ing.好的学习者经常把他们需要学习的东西和感兴趣的东西联系起来。connect v.(使)连接;与有联系 connection n. 连接connect.with. 意为“把与连接起来”。e.g. A railway connects Beijing with Shanghai.6. Good learners think about what they are good at and what they need to practice more. 优秀的学习者考虑他们擅长什么和需要多练习什么。(1) think about 意为“考虑,思考 ”,拓展:think of 意为“想起,认为”

11、,think over 意为“再三考虑,仔细思考”。e.g. He is thinking about a problem.(2)be good at 意为“擅长”,后加名词、代词、动名词。相当于do well in 意为“在某方面做得好”。e.g. I am good at dancing.7. Even if you learn something well, you will forget it unless you use it. 即使是你学得好的东西,如果你不使用,就会忘记。(1) even if 意为“即使;纵然;尽管”,引导让步状语从句,相当于even though。e.g. W

12、e can buy things even if we dont take any money.(2) unless 意为“除非;如果不”,引导条件状语从句,相当于if.not。在许多情况下二者可以互换。e.g. You will fail the exam unless you work hard.= If you dont work hard, you will fail the exam.Step 5 SummaryKey words and phrases: born, ability, create, brain, active, review, knowledge, wisely,
