3、et Harms Friendships”.Underline the general idea and the topic sentence for each argument.General idea:While the Internet can bring people closer together,it can also harm friendships.Identifying Topic Sentences and Supporting DetailsA topic sentence states the general idea or the main point of a te

4、xt or paragraph.Supporting details give more information about that topic.Read the text to get the general idea.Identify one sentence for each argument that states this general idea.This is the topic sentence.Read the text again.Look for extra information that supports the topic sentence,e.g.example

5、s,reasons.These are the supporting details.Skimming and reading are different ways to understand written information.When skimming,we look at all the words quickly and try to understand the writers complete meaning.Read the first blog post again.Complete the information on the left side of the diagr
