Unit 5 What time is it? (Period 1) Teaching objectives: 1、Enable Ss to learn new words:eleven, twelve, oclock, clock. 2、Enable Ss to ask and answer time with the sentence patterns: What time is it? and Its nine oclock. . 3、Enable Ss to understand to choose time is to save time. Teaching important points:Try to master the new words and the sentence patterns. Teaching difficult points:Understand and use the sentence patterns properly. Teaching preparations: 1. a video about Part A. 2. PPT 3.Six word cards. 4. a picture of clock for each student. Teaching steps: Step1: Warm up & lead in 1Sing a song : Ten Little Indians 2Review numbers: 1-10 T: We sang some number in the song. What are they? T&Ss:( Count together: one, two, threeten.) T: Ill show some numbers on the screen. If you know it ,you can stand up and read it aloud. Review the numbers again and lead to new word learning: eleven & twelve. 3. Teach new words, eleven and twelve, by reading the word cards one by one. Step2: Presentation and drill. 1. Present sentence patterns and learn new words. (1) T: I can put all the numbers in a circle. Now , can you guess what it is? Lead to new word: clock. Encourage students to hold their clocks and say : Look at my clock. (2) T: We can ask time like this: What time is it? And we can answer the time like this: Its oclock Use the sentence cards to practice reading the two sentence patterns above. 2.Practice (1) Show some time on screen T: What time is it? Ss: Its oclock (2) Pair work T: Hold your clocks and practise asking and answer the time with your partners. (3) Show time. Step 3: Understand and read the text in Part A. 1. Watch the text video and try to get the Chinese meaning of each sentence. 2. Read after the video 3. Read the text in groups. 4. Show time Step 4: Act the text. Homework: Practise asking time in English with your classmates or parents.
