Lesson 10 Mr. Woods Science Class No. sixth primary school ,huailai 王俊丽王俊丽 Hello everyone. Im glad to talk about my teaching design here. Take this chance, Im willing to share my lesson with all of you . Im ready to accept any help from all of you. Teaching content: Its lesson 10 of unit2 of primary English Book 10.This unit is mainly about Li Ming and Jennys class and school work in Canada. Following their study experience ,we help the students learn new words,new phrases and new sentence structures. This lesson includes 2 parts,Temperature and Lets do it.The content of this lesson is very close to our daily life . So it is good to stimulate their interest and enthusiasm. About our students: Our students are active,curious and interested in all kinds of new things. After about 4 years English learning ,they have some basic English background knowledge and the learning skills of listening , reading ,speaking and writing. So it is not difficult for them to understand and use the words, the phrases and sentences. Teaching aims: The standards tell us in primary school stage our aim is to develope the students ability of using language . According to the actual situation I design the teaching aims as following: A.Language knowledge aim By the end of this lesson students will be able to listen, read,recognize and use these words: temperature, degree, low and high. And these sentences: Whats the temperature? Its degrees. What was the temperature on Monday? It was degrees. B . Language ability aim: On the process of mastering these new words and sentences help the students to develope good habits of training their brains,mouths and hands. Help them to get used to communicating with each other in English they have learned . C. Emotional aim: To guide the students to love our colorful daily life and be grateful to all kinds of things our life gives us . Main points and difficult points: Talking about temperature is very important in conversational skills. So it is the important main points. Using the words and sentences freely is the difficult points. Teaching and learning methods: 1.Teaching method: Pupils are active,aggressive and have strong ability to imitation, so I take the interest method, task-based teaching method ,communication and game method. In the teaching process, I make full use of modern means of teaching ,thinking and activities naturally for cooperation and exchange. So make them happy to learn English and study by themselves. 2.Learning method: I use listening ,reading , single word and sentence practice ,pair work ,group work,etc to cultivate their group cooperative learning and problem-solving abilities. 3.Teaching means: According to the intuitive ,fun and practical principles of the English teaching, combine with this lesson ,I use pictures , real objects and teaching aids aid teaching. Teaching process: Revise some words about weather: sunny, rainy, windy,cloudy and snowy with some pictures. sunny cloudy windy snowy rainy According to the pictures ask the students : “How is the weather? Is it (words about weather)? ” and help them to answer “ Its . Yes / No , it is .” Presentation : Put a real thermometer into a glass of cold water ,and ask some students to read the number . Then put it into a glass of hot water and do the same. Then tell the students : “The water is cold/hot. Whats the temperature of the water? Its degrees.” Pairwork: 1.Whats the temperature on a rainy day in summer? Its degrees. 2. Whats the temperature on a sunny day in autumn? Its degrees. 3.Whats the temperature on a snowy day in winter? Its degrees. 4.Whats the temperature on a windy day in spring? Its degrees. Listen and answer these questions: page 24 ,part1. Play the tape for the students listen and answer the following questions : 1. Hows the weather today? 2. Whats the temperature outside? 3.Whats the temperature inside? 4. Whats the temperature of the hot water? Help the students answer the questions. Then check the answers. Reading : page 24 ,part1. Play the tape for the students listen and repeat. Then ask them to read part1 together. Look and talk : page 25 ,part2. Help the students look at the chart. Then help them work in small groups to practice like this: 1.What was the high temperature on Monday/ Tuesday.in your city ? It was degrees. 2.What was the low temperature on Monday/ Tuesday.in your city ? It was degrees. Read and write: page 25 ,part2. Help the students read the four pictures and fill in blanks. Then check the answers. Summary : Summarize this lesson with the students. If there are any difficulties help them discuss to solve . Homework: Watch TV or search the internet a part of weather forecast in English , and try to write down at least five cities about the weather and temperature.
