I/ We have. 3. Retell the story with the help of pictures. Skill aims: Know how to ask and answer the school subjects the students have/ like . Affection aims: Develop more interest in school subjects by talking about them. Teaching focus: 1. Students are able to read and say the words of school subjects: Chinese, English, math, science, music, art, P.E. 2. Students are able to know how to ask and answer the school subjects they like/have with the sentence patterns: What subjects do you like/have? I/ We like/ have. 3. Students are able to retell the story with the help of pictures. Teaching difficulties: 1. Students are able to make their dream timetable. 2. Students are able to make a new conversation with the patterns. Procedure Step 1 Warming-up 1. Greetings T: Good afternoon, boys and girls. Ss: Good afternoon, Miss Xu. T: Nice to see you. Ss: Nice to see you too. 2. Free talk T asks two questions to warm up the class and to lead in the topic. T: Boys and girls, do you like our school? S: Yes. T: What can you do at school? Ss: We can sing/ draw/ play /read. 3. Lets say T show some pictures, student say: we can. Ss: We can sing songs/ draw pictures/ play football/ read books/ do our homework. 【设计意图:师生问答、创设氛围。通过师生间的自由问答,激发 学生的表达欲望,从而创设良好的英语学习氛围,为下面学习新知 识做铺垫。】 Step 2 Presentation 1. Lets learn T presents some pictures of school subjects, students learn to read the new words. T: Yes, we can do so many things at school because we have many school subjects. (教学 school subjects) / / subject T: Look, what subject is it? S: Its Chinese.(The red i says /ai/) T: What subject is it? S: Its math.(The red a says /) T: How about this one? S: Its music. (The red u says /ju/) T: What can you do in the music class? S: We can sing/ dance. T: Look, the man is doing experiments, can you guess what subject is it? S: Its science.(The red i says /ai/) T: Look at the picture, what subject is it? S: Its art. (Here ar says /a:/) T: We can jump, we can run, we can play football, what subject is it? S: Its P.E. They find and say the subject that isnt on the screen as quickly as possible. T: We learn so many school subjects. Now lets play a game: Whats missing? 【设计意图:游戏操练、活跃课堂。通过这样一个快速反应的游戏, 既要求学生记住新学的七个表示科目的单词,又要快速说出所缺的 哪一个,活跃了课堂,也巩固了新知。】 3. Lets chant T guides ss to say the chant about subjects. 【设计意图:巩固新知,渗透表达。通过本单元 Lesson 4 当中的 chant,既巩固了新学的单词,又渗透了 I like.的句式,同时也为下 面学习“What subjects do you like?”进行铺垫。】 4. Lets learn T presents the pattern :What subjects do you like? T: So, I like English, What subjects do you like? Lets read together. Now, work in pairs and talk about the subjects you like. T asks a student what subjects do you like? S: I like P.E. T: Do you have P.E. class this morning? S: No. T: What subjects do you have this morning? Look, this is your timetable, so can you say what subjects do you have? Read together. S: We have Chinese, math, English and art. 【设计意图:一问一答,层层递进。通过 what subjects do you like?d 的句型提问学生,再进行追问,Do you have this subject?从而引出 what subjects do you have?的句式,结合学生的实际情况,进行两两 操练。】 5. Lets answer T leads to the topic “school open day” and students practice the pattern “what subjects do you have?” T: Last week, we had a school open day, do you remember what subjects did we have? S: We had math, P.E. and class meeting. 6. Watch and answer T presents the cartoon, students watch it and answer the question: “what subjects does Wang Li have?” T: Wang Li, Ann and Ken are having a school open day too. What subjects does Wang Li have? Lets watch the cartoon and find the answer. T: Let ask together. Ss: What subjects do you have? T: Who can be Wang Li and answer the question? S: We have math, English, Chinese. T: Yes, they have math, English, Chinese and some other subjects, maybe art, science, music. This time, read the story by yourselves and then answer the question: What subjects does Wang Li like? T: Who can be Wang Li? Lets ask her together. Ss ask “ What subjects do you like?” S1: I like math and English. 8. Lets guess T shows the picture of Mocky who says “But I like playing” and students guess which subjects may Mocky like? Read and find Students read the story by themselves and find the sentence that can mean whether Mocky will have P.E. class. And find which is their P.E. teacher? T: Actually, the story mentioned that Mocky likes P.E. Can he have P.E. class on the school open day? Can you find the hint? S: Ken and Ann have P.E. class today, you can go with them.
