4、le in-14. in spite of15. available working hours16. be involved in-Step 2 Study (Thinking ; Presentation and Discussion) Grammar: -ed as attributive 过去分词作定语规则动词的过去分词由动词原形加词尾-ed构成,不规则动词的过去分词没有统一的构成规则。过去分词在句中可作定语、表语、宾语补足语和状语,但不能单独用作谓语。(1)过去分词作定语的位置单个的过去分词作定语时,通常放在被修饰词之前。e.g. The ground was covered wit

5、h fallen leaves. People shouldnt be exposed to polluted water.过去分词短语作定语时,通常放在被修饰词之后,它的作用相当于一个定语从句。e.g. I was instructed to carry out a plan supported by most people. =I was instructed to carry out a plan which was supported by most people.【学法点拨】有些单个的过去分词,在习惯上往往放在被修饰词后。e.g. There is little time left.

6、 Lets hurry up.过去分词修饰代词时,应放在被修饰词之后。e.g. He is one of those invited. 有些过去分词作定语,前置和后置的意义不同,试比较e.g. This is a used car. 这是一辆二手年。The method used is very efficient. 所用的这个方法很有效。(2)过去分词作定语的意义不及物动词的过去分词作定语,只表示动作已完成,不表示被动及物动词的过去分词作定语,表示被动或完成。不及物动词:只表示完成,不表示被动e.g. a retired teacher退休教师fallen leaves落叶the risen

7、 sun升起的太阳及物动词:表示被动或完成e.g. an honoured guest 一位受尊故的客人the broken glass 碎了的杯子易混动词不定式(短语)、现在分词和过去分词作定语的用法区别:(1)不定式(短语)作定语不定式(短语)所表示的动作跟所修饰的词存在逻辑上的被动或主动关系(但常用主动形式表被动意义),如果动词是不及物动词,后面要加必要的介词。e.g. She is now looking for a house to live in.常用不定式(短语)作定语的词(短语)有: promise, opportunity, chance, need, time, way,

8、the first 等。e.g. I have a chance to go abroad. He is the first to come to school. 表示主语有事要做: e.g. I have many things to deal with.2)现在分词作定语现在分词表示的动作与所修饰的词为逻辑上的主动关系,表示正在进行的动作或存在的状态。e.g. Do you know the boy standing over there? ( standing表示主动和进行)e.g. The room facing the south is mine. ( facing表示状态)表示被修
