Lead-in The teacher will show some cards with different carnivals on them and hold a group discussion to talk about carnivals theyve ever experienced. Ask two students as representatives to describe within 5 sentences. II. Presentation and practice 1
5、.Reading task Read the passage with questions like “Which activity at Quebec Carnival do you think would be the most fun? Why?” or “If you had to draw a poster for the Carnival, what things would you put on the poster?”. So the students would be encouraged to answer the questions with “would be” sen
6、tence pattern. 2. Listening taskThe students should listen to the tape for two times and name the festivals. After listening to the tape twice, the students should share the answers.There could be some students mix Valentines Day and Mothers Day since both of them have flowers involved. A role play
7、is designed for the students. The students are going to role play two different holidays applying obvious holiday vocabulary such as carnation for Mothers Day and red rose for Valentines Day. 3. Speaking taskAfter talking and listening different festivals, the students have a chance to create a new
8、festival. The teacher should guide the students to say when the festival takes place, what the festival is for, what people do and eat at the festival. Students should work in pairs to exchange their thinkings so that they can better their ideas. Then the students should prepare this short report ab
9、out their new festivals. The students will build a logical thinking while they are constructing their speech. In this part, students are not allowed to write their reports down. 5 students will have chance to give a speech about their festivals in class.4. Writing task Since every student has his/he
10、r festival, theyre encouraged to write a brochure for the new festival that they just created, introducing it and giving advice to those who want to come. The students should be aware that all the content such as “where the festival will take place; what kind of weather people should expect; how muc
11、h it will cost” should be involved in the brochure. The students are encouraged to design their special festival brochure. III. Summary Ask the students what we have practice this class and the students could be easy to tell that the whole class is about the revision to different festivals, also the
12、 application of “would be” sentence pattern. IV. Homework Introduce the students festivals to their parents and friends about why there should be this festival.
