And now Ill explain the analysis of the teaching material first.Part 1: Analysis of the Teaching MaterialThis lesson is the first period of Unit 2 of New Standar
3、d English for Senior Students Book Four, it is a passage about the ancient and modern Olympic Games, through the reading passage, ss can know more information about Olympic Games, especially the differences between the ancient and modern Olympic Games. The topic is very interesting and worth to thin
4、k deeply,during the process, students reading ability and thinking ability can be improved, it is also helpful for students establishing their life and world value, as well as the society responsibilities. Based on the new curriculum standard, I set up three teaching objects as follows: 1. Knowledge
5、 objectivesThe knowledge objectives: students master the important words, phrases and sentence structures. Such as volunteer, homeland, regular basis, etc. Practice the intonation of the general question. To master the content of the reading passage and learn how to make a interview.2. Ability objec
6、tivesThe ability objectives are to improve the students reading ability and develop students communicative ability.3. Emotional objectivesThe emotional objectives are to strengthen ss love for Olympic games and to improve ss reading interest.According to the analysis of teaching aims, I should help

They are excited to lear
9、n in new school and make new friends. But some students are too shy to express themselves in English. Through the study of this lesson, they can grasp the English learning methods in senior high school. Then, they can improve their confidence and interest in English study. By learning this passage w
10、e can make the students understand the differences between the ancient and modern Olympics games, and increase their understanding of human cultural awareness. Part Three: The Teaching MethodsI will use the following teaching methods to lead the students learn the new lesson: Communicative teaching

14、d then ask students ask and answer in pairs using the questions in the table.This question shorten the distance between teacher and Ss. Because liuxiang is a Chinese famous player who win the first Olympic gold medal of 110 m hurdles in Olympic games. So it lead the content of the text which talks a
15、bout Olympic games naturally.Step 2 Pre-readingBrainstorming: Ss watch the picture and guess what it is in the picture. Then ask the Ss to talk about Ancient Greece by brainstorming. What we do in this step are all helpful for students learning more about the text and preparing for the passage we wi
16、ll learn in the next step.Step 3 While-reading1. Skimming I will ask the Ss to read the text The Story of Atlanta and complete the T/F questions after the text on page 14. This will help students to practice the skimming strategies. Then Ss will read the whole passage quickly and get the main idea o
17、f each paragraph. This also can be feedback to check other students whether they grasp the general idea of the passage.2. ScanningStudents scan the whole passage again , find out the similarities and differences between the ancient and modern Olympic games and finish the Activities 1 on Page 11.The
18、purpose of this design is to train the scanning ability and thinking abilities of students. 2. Careful-readingThis part will mainly deal with the contents of the text.Task 1: Let the Ss read the text again and then try to guess the meaning of the new words and phrases, such as “greek, magical, regul
19、ar basis” on the blackboard. finish Activities 3 4 on Page 23, at the meantime, I will explain the complex words, phrases and sentences.Task 2: Read passage and answer the questions which is more difficult such as “.
